Possible mm

My dad recently passed away from multiple myeloma. So, I joined a study group connected with the Dana-Farber Institute. I had blood drawn and tested and got the results back shortly after the pandemic started. I didn’t understand the results but they were extremely eager for me to sign authorization forms for further testing and to set up virtual appointments over the phone. It made me very uncomfortable and I stopped communication. I am sending the test results to see if I actually need to see someone.

Hi @glelito,
I understand you are concerned that the researchers' eagerness to have you continue with the study may be interpreted as bad news. It is not necessarily bad news, but that your results are relevant to their research. Members on Mayo Clinic Connect are patients. To get a full interpretation of your results requires consultation with a medical professional, who can review these results along with your medical history and current medical status. I recommend that you consult with your doctor or with medical experts at the Dana-Farber Institute or another facility.

Can you explain what made you feel uncomfortable that you discontinued communication with the study coordinator?

Part of the research is digging deeper into results from further testing. It seems that you maybe uncomfortable with the additional testing without explanation of the initial test. I totally understand your apprehension.
