Hi @sash, You will notice we added to the title of your discussion to better describe your question and hopefully bring members into the discussion who may have tried intraneural facilitation (INF) to relieve nerve pain, numbness and tingling. If I still lived in California, I would definitely consider this option for my neuropathy numbness. I'm 78 and my can remember my father going to Loma Linda University Hospital for blood vessel issues in his legs in the 1950s.

Here is another page on their website that explains what it is and might be helpful for others also.
-- What You Need to Know about Intraneural Facilitation (INF): https://lluh.org/services/neuropathic-therapy-center/blog/what-you-need-know-about-intraneural-facilitation-inf

Here is a study from 2016 that seems hopeful.
-- Effects of a Novel Therapeutic Intervention in Patients With Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26808781/

Are you considering intraneural facilitation treatment soon or have you looked into it?

Hi John,

I requested information. Looks expensive and I do not live in CA.

I'm sure it's not cheap and probably not covered by insurance. I would probably have to pass on it myself.

I found Loma Linda's INF treatment for my friend. When he entered their program, his pain level was 8-9, had sleepless nights because the pain was worse when sleeping and he would have to get out of bed each night from the pain; his balance was bad and he was on medication. On his first visit he received an evaluation and free testing and an INF treatment to see if he was a candidate for their program. The INF program is a series of 12 sessions done in any order -- daily or spread out. During the treatments they are teaching you how to do the INF treatment on your own when you leave. Then your progress is up to you.

Happily I can report that he has had a 30-35% measured pain reduction; he is back to sleeping through the night and getting needed rest. He is off his neuropathy meds and pain pills. He did his treatments twice a week. They also teated him for Gluten, Dairy, and Sugar and the effects each had on his inflamation. For him it was just Sugar that was the problem.

The treatment was painless, comfortable and easy to do. He really liked the staff right from the first meeting. They made him feel instantly comfortable with the whole process. The costs vs. benefits were acceptable -- under $4,000. They only billed for the actual 12 treatments, and nothing for their testing and consultations. His first visit was 2 hours at no charge. Loma Linda has been working with the insurance companies to get codes created
for their treatment because its so new. Eventually they will be able to bill insurance companies as soon as they have the codes. My friend loved it so much he is considering doing a refresher number of treatments after a few months to be sure he is doing it well, even if he has to pay for them. He said this is the most progress he has made in 8 years on a illness that was rapidly advancing.

Other illnesses Loma Linda is using INF to treat and having success are:
Chemotherapy Induced Neuropathy; Diabetic Induced Neuropathy; Avascular Necrosis (AVN); Dropfoot; Migraines; Concussions; Phantom Limb Pain; Chronic Nerve Pain; Fibromyalgia; Balance Disorders; Restless Leg Syndrome; Chronic regional pain syndrome; and Sciatica

I hope this helps other suffers out there from someone who knows this first hand.

Hi - Did you (or your friend) use this to help neuropathy? Did the balance issue resolve?

Although INF treatment can be used to improve other issues. My friend's issue was definitely Neuropathy and he achieved 35% reduction of his pain? The fact that he is getting full nights sleep daily now and his feet feel more grounded when he is walking, yes some of his balance is improving. Plus through INF he has reduced a lot of medication (all which have various side effects) which I think has also helped the balance.

Some of the other issues INF can treat are:
Chemotherapy Induced Neuropathy; Diabetic Induced Neuropathy; Avascular Necrosis (AVN); Dropfoot; Migraines; Concussions; Phantom Limb Pain; Chronic Nerve Pain; Fibromyalgia; Balance Disorders; Restless Leg Syndrome; Chronic regional pain syndrome; and Sciatica

Hi John, Volunteer Mentor. I found Mayo Clinic Connect quite by accident. I was compiling my notes on my friends INF and looked to see if there were any new posts on it so I could include new links. I did an internet search and it came up.

I am preparing my notes for my local hospital. Loma Linda told me they will soon be training other therapists how to use their system. I want to get my local therapists trained and the hospital is very very interested in INF.

I was happy that it was a forum and that I had first hand knowledge of the INF program that I could share. It is wonderful that LLH is able to help so many people from the US and from other countries. LLH is a first rate hospital and consevative. So for them to devote an entire department to INF, must mean they sincerely believe in the benefits of INF. My friend totally enjoyed all the staff he dealt with for treatment. He was relaxed from the minute we got there. There was never any pain or discomfort doing the INF treatment.

Thanks Shirley @shirleys55, I grew up in So Cal and my father had surgery at Loma Linda Hospital for his varicose veins. It's a great teaching hospital. It's good to hear they have an INF program.
