Burning Feet syndrome
Hi everyone! Am 40yrs man in Africa - Country. Kenya. In 1993 aged 22 and in college, I developed burning feet. So hot have been my feet that I've not worn closed shoes all those yrs
All tests done over the yrs -,including blood sugar, pressure, vitamin test, nerve endings test etc. All have been negative. I'm generally healthy, with no major problem. I need anyone who has had such a problem and got help to help.

Have you talked to a neurologist?

Greetings all, and Happy New Year!!
Well, I'm still burning. Went to see a guy who is the head of the PhD program at Baylor University. He is the director of the mind body medicine clinic. I had seen him years before and he helped me greatly in getting my head right dealing with military stuff. Anyway, he did a hypnotic induction. Talked about being in the snow on a mountain. Barefoot! And, when it was over my feet were not burning. At all. He recorded the session and gave me a CD to listen to at home. I do believe I have improved. Not sure if the pain is less or I am dealing with it better. In any case, who cares! As long as it helped. Just thought I would pass this along. Best to all,
Al
Thanks for the update, Al. What is on the CD? Hypnotic visualizations?
Yes, it is an audio recording of my hypnotic induction. It was done in a soundproof room. He suggested that I was in the snow, barefoot! Walking to a cabin on a snowy mountain. I find that the more I listen to it the more effective it is.
I have burning feet - it started 11 months ago. It goes away when I take Gabapentin or Lyrica (I take those for axonal sensory neuropathy, and Restless Leg Syndrome). About an hour before it's time to take the meds, my feet start burning again. To get through that hour, I can do several things: go running, massage any lotion onto my feet/legs, spray with lidocaine, go into the jacuzzi - the hot water relaxes my nerves. I know this will get worse as my nervous system continues dying. So .... I'm looking here for more solutions, especially ones that don't cause sleepiness, or any other bad side affect. I have some Codeine but I only take 1/2 of a tablet, only if I have to, and only late at night because it makes me sleepy. Peggy
I am new to the group. I also have PN, manifesting mostly as burning feet, when wearing shoes and/or socks. I've tried nearly everything mentioned here so far. The only thing that works for me is warm weather and Ugg boots, or at least the shearling linings. I have made shearling inserts for all my shoes and even flip flops and bicycle shoes. Not perfect, but it delays the onset of the burning.
Does anybody have a regimen for the use of lidocaine cream? I have tried the 5%, and it doesn't seem to do anything for me.
I walked in the cold Atlantic Ocean the other day and the burning stopped for awhile. I will try the 'walking in the snow' visualization when I'm not near the beach. Anything that pauses the spiraling of the pain and resets it back to 1 is a wonderful thing. Peggy
I am having a lot of trouble with a burning sensation under my feet, the GP has checked my pulses and there is nothing in my blood chemistry to suggest anything wrong there so she is concluding its neural nerve pain. Does this make sense. She wants me to take amyltriptaine ( that's probably not spelt right) will that help ?
@lotsofpain, I moved your message to this existing discussion about burning feet in the Neuropathy group. If you click VIEW & REPLY, you can scroll through the past messages from members like @ujeeniack @skullborous @pfbacon and @jeffrapp. I'd also like to bring @hotfooted into this discussion. @stuartg and @lauraj155 have talked about taking Amitriptyline for neuropathy.
Lotsofpain, is the burning sensation a new symptom for you? Do you also experience other symptoms of neuropathy like pain, tingling or numbness?
It's early morning now.. I woke up at 5:00 a.m. with my feet burning and red.. That happens most mornings for me.. First thing that I do is sit in the shower and spray them with cold water for a few minutes to cool them down, then put on warm wool socks.. Sounds nutty, but this is my latest regimen and it helps me get the day started.. Since I'm diabetic type 2, the next thing I do is scramble an egg with some green salsa and eat that with Dave's Killer bread, one slice with plenty of butter.. Coffee and me and meds.. Now I'm sitting here waiting for my jittery legs to settle down.. I also use a topical rubbing oil that I've talked about too many times here on Connect, but it has been a tremendous help for me and I feel like it's necessary to share any and all remedies that might help someone else.. Frankincense and Myrrh from Amazon or WalMart.. It doesn't do anything for some folks, but is a God send for some of us.. Only costs about $20 to try it if you have small fiber neuropathy, as I have, along with Erythromelalgia and Raynaud's.. I know how burning feet limits the time you can be on your feet.. Oh, and keep your feet propped up off the floor when you're sitting.. It helps, too... Good luck with getting a diagnosis and relief... Blessings
