I read that even fasting for 16-18 hours can break a vicious cycle of insulin resistance. If it's true, that's kind of amazing I think. And the medical establishment might be able to start some permanent changes in patients by educating about, and supporting, fasting therapies. For the cynics that point out that Big Pharma would hate and fight it, I'll anti with a thought that Big Insurance might love it tho'.

I should tweak my comment by suggesting that the fasting can 'interrupt" the insulin resistance vicious cycle. But any interruption could trigger a changed future for people who foresee a life of endless drugs otherwise.

@callalloo - I thought this video was really insightful with a little bit of humor on why we have so much obesity in this country and the part the food industry plays.
