Rough Timeline of International Appointment Request

Posted by jordyndill @jordyndill, Jun 9, 2022

Hi everyone!
I live in Canada and have requested an appointment with the Mayo Clinic located in Rochester, Minnesota. I have several underlying health conditions which I explained on my appointment request forms. The International Appointment Office has processed my request and now I am waiting for someone to contact me about scheduling an appointment, any idea how long it will take to hear from someone at this stage? I would like to head down there as soon as possible but did not notice a space to communicate that on the appointment request forms that I have filled out. Will this be assumed or should I contact someone?

Thank you for sharing. I have sent my information and medical records to the International Appointment Office and they let me know that a specialist will be reviewing my case. In 2-5 business days I should hear back about when my appointment will be. I hope that I will be able to get in as quickly as you did. It sounds like you have had a great experience with the Mayo Clinic, that is promising! One of my reasons for travelling is that I am not able to have the testing that I need done, done where I live. The disorders/syndromes that it is suspected I have can be life threatening, so, I hope to get answers. The Mayo Clinic came highly recommended. I hope that you are doing well post surgery

Hope you get everything resolved as soon as possible. I know I was fortunate that things went so quickly. Keep in mind that Mayo clinic is a research institution and teaching hospital

@jordyndill Our Mayo Clinic Connect Director, Colleen @colleenyoung is so very knowledgeable about the workings of Mayo Clinic. The International Appointment Office and patient advocate office in Canada sounds like they were most helpful to you.

I live in a rural area of Michigan and do not have specialists available to me locally. I am grateful that I could travel to Mayo Clinic for my medical care.

When you hear back about your appointment request from Mayo will you let me know?

I will for sure let you know, I have been very appreciative of everyone’s help so far including yours. I found out today that my medical records had not made it to the International Appointment Office but four phone calls and four different attempts later they made it. Everyone was so kind on the phone and apologetic that my records were not being received on their end. I was told that I should hear back in the next 24 hrs from a case coordinator, I believe was their job title? I hope that this means that I will be able to schedule an appointment…
