Any recommendations for a fast & durable Nebulizer Compressor?
Has anyone had a problem recently with Pari ProNeb Max or LC Sprint cups. I have been neb for over a year and it takes most of my day to do 2 or 3 meds twice a day (2 to 3 hours each time.). I have been told 10 - 15 mins per med. That has never happened with me. About 3 months ago, my Pari ProNeb Max sound got much softer and then my meds started foaming in the cups. (I have about 15 neb cups because I continue to buy them thinking that the foaming is from defective cup. The company replaced the compressor without any problems. Foaming occurred from the beginning with the 2nd one, and the 3rd and the 4th (all within the last 3 months). I hesitate to send this 4th one back because, I feel positive that another one will cause foaming also have the little palm sized Treak S. Same thing with it. Foaming.
J sterlize my equipment in Instant Pot or Bololo Baby bottle sterlizer ()which I learned about from this group. Thank you. They are great time savers. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was using tap water to wash and rinse my equipment. Now I wash it and soak it in hot tap water, but the final rinse is filtered and boiled water.

Hi Raney. I had a Pari Sport travel size nebulizer, but it died on me after 1 year of use. I have since bought a Vios green compressor and it has worked very well so far. Other members on here recommended it. I have found that certain neb cups wear out after only several uses. I think the last cup I bought was a Pari brand and is working well. My nebulizing time has been cut in half by using the new cups. I have been cleaning my cups by soaking them in heavy vinegar water and drip drying on a paper towel. I wonder if the heat in those bottle cleaners are distorting/warping the innards of the neb cups and that may be what is causing them t malfunction. I used to use boiled water to soak my cups, if the water was still too warm, it ruined the cups.

4 ReactionsThe Pari Vios green compressor (available on-line and also through Walgreens with their brand on it) is a workhorse, though not necessarily "fast" and definitely not quiet. They last for years of daily use.
In 40 years with nebulizers and meds, I have never had foaming in the cup. What are you nebulizing?
One suggestion - try to make an appointment with a respiratory therapist/assistant through your pulmonologist for a "nebulizer consult." Explain ahead of time that you want to walk through your routine with them to address this foaming issue. Take everything you use at home and go to the appointment - they should be able to help you figure out what is going on.
Can you do this? The RT will be a better option than the doc - they deal with this every day.

1 ReactionTerri, thank you. I have wondered if the heat from baby bottle sterilizing or boiling water in Instant pot was what was causing the problem. After getting the Pari Trek S (palm size) and foaming also occurred then I started thinking it might be the sterilizing method that was the problem. My neb cups are are Pari LC Sprint. (blue screw on top with handle and blue flap on mouth piece. Has a center removal cone. Is that the type you have.
I will also order a Vios Green. Good to have a backup.
I think all the problems with nebulizer cup is coming from how to clean your neb cup. I’ve been nebulizer for 5 years had never have problem and I hope will not. My respiratory at NJH told me how to clean my nebulizer after use. Rinse it with tap water then soak it with distilled water with a little bit of dish liquid for 10 min. Then rinse it and put it in big pot on top of strainer so the neb doesn’t touch the bottom of the pot and boil it for 5 or 10 min. Remember use distilled water. It’s a lot of work but it’s safe for neb and for me. I though I can share it with you all.
I’m also guessing it’s related to the water you’re using or not rinsing it enough.
I’ve soaked my things in diluted vinegar and then sterilized in a baby bottle sterilizer as well as washed in warm soapy water (and then rinsed) and then the sterilizer and never experienced any foaming in the cup or residue. I use water filtered to .02 microns (reverse osmosis system).
I have an Ombra. It’s sturdy and I like it a lot!
I have philips innospire elegence. It's fast and seems sturdy. The cups are good and last through 90 second distilled water microwaving steam bag cleaning. Only need to be replaced every 6 months. I can not guarantee the cleaning method because people here seem to have even more stringent cleaning methods but so far so good.
Hi Raney, I also use the Vios green compressor and it is doing a very good job, thus far. As far as sterilizing, I don't have a lot of room for a big sterilizer so I have been using steam cleaning bags and it is easy and quick. 3 minutes in the microwave and done. 1 ReactionFor those who have a Omba nebulizer, how loud is it? I’ve been using a DeVilbiss PulmoNeb LT bought locally. Just seems like it gets louder. Unfortunately just now I made a sudden turn while nebulizing and using my vest and pulled it off the table. I knocked something loose inside. I can use my Pari Trek S that I have for travel in the meantime, but I don’t care to use it as my full time nebulizer. So those of you who have good nebulizers and don’t seem horribly loud, what do you use? Thanks!
