Mental illnesses do not define who we are

As I read some of my reference letters going back to 1992, it's difficult to understand why some have the audacity to slander my work ethic and character. I'm still trying to sort out how I'm portrayed by some with a hidden agenda in a negative light but my references say that I go above and beyond.
This is another topic that makes me question "why?".
How can anyone try to portray a false picture of another? It really hurts when people believe the abuser and not the person being mobbed. Maybe just maybe I'll be able to ask soon.
Hugs,
Rox
