This is them most common reason for revision after long term success. There have been improvements in that area beginning about 12-15 years ago, press fixing the cup & securing with a screw, that my surgeon told me has had good longer term success for younger, active people.
That is what I have, and was told it could last a long time, but the polymer liner in my acetabular cup will eventually need replacement. So far, so good (at 10 years) according to x-rays this spring.
Do you know what approach & replacement your surgeon will use? My current implants are a result of revisions done in 2012 after total failure of my original THR's (recalled ones - a very long story.) I learned from that very unhappy experience to question the surgeon about the plan, then research the components and approach very closely.
