How do you manage wearing a facemask with hearing aids?
I wear hearing aids that loop over both ears. When I put on a mask, it knocks the aids out of my ears. When I have the mask on and put them back in, it feels uncomfortable. I don't want to go around without the hearing aids. Any suggestions?

If I do use a mask with my new BTE hearing aids - I use my fingers together to #1 hold onto the hearing aid, and #2 slide the mask off of my ear and over the hearing aid, making sure the aid stays in the ear. I have small fingers. I have had my aids going flying with the masks before but never lost them. I can't have any elastic on my head due to the pressure they give my head and cause migraines for me. So I have to keep things simple. We are always in a hurry - so I just take my time and figure - I need to tell anyone around me - I am hard of hearing/deaf. They can take their mask off so that I can read their lips please. I inform them I wear hearing aids and perform my way of showing them how I don't lose my very expensive hearing aids. They usually cooperate. This takes place in my doctor's office at USF in Tampa FL as an example for you.
I have had my hearing aids come off but I do like nurseheadakes does and with my fingers slide under the elastic and lift up. No longer a problem. I have many times asked people to remove their masks as I just can't hear them speaking. It is just a matter of taking your time removing your mask.
Get masks that attached like the in 95 masks. Then you don't need to put anything around your ears to hold the mask on. My daughter made me a couple of cloth masks with those kind of attachments, what goes around my neck and one around the top of my head. That secures the mask and doesn't endanger the hearing aid.
It sounds like you’ve gotten the info you need. I would recommend, as stated previously, always removing your mask, no matter what kind in an enclosed space. At least if it flies off in the car, you can find it. I’ve had both kinds pull off a hearing aid. I really like the advice of going slowly and holding the aid in place.
My Resounds have a Find My Hearing Aid option. If my HA is on I can locate it using my smartphone. When I get close, it becomes a game of hot and cold but it works! Handy for fly away HA or forgetful me, who has removed one and forgotten to put it away. 🤦🏻♀️
Cloth masks were promoted when N95 masks had very limited stock and the medical community needed them. N95 (and KN95) masks are now available. We wear masks for health reasons, so cloth masks should now be discarded.
WHAT DO THE RATINGS MEAN?
1) 95: Masks ending in a 95, have a 95 percent efficiency.
2) .3 microns: The masks filter out contaminants like dusts, mists and fumes. The minimum size of .3 microns of particulates and large droplets won’t pass through the barrier, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC.)
3) Material: The filtration material on the mask is an electrostatic non-woven polypropylene fiber.
4) The "N" stands for “Non-Oil” meaning that if no oil-based particulates are present, then you can use the mask in the work environment. - YES, people in construction wear these same masks for protection from dust, chemicals etc.!
Hi Vic, I agree that the N95/KN95 masks are the best. Most people should wear them.
However, I have made and continue to distribute 3 layer cloth masks for some people. Here is why - a well made cloth masks offers some protection. And there are a number of populations who are unable, often for sensory or emotional reasons, to wear N/KN 95 masks. There are also people who have a huge sensation of breathlessness in those masks, but will tolerate cloth. It is better to offer them some protection than nothing.

Unfortunately, the difference in masks effectiveness is enormous. If one has real health issues, one has a false sense of security with a cloth mask. If I can find the chart, I will post but there was a comparison about how long it takes to catch Covid depending on mask type.
I am well aware of the difficulty of some in wearing a mask. I have lung cancer, coronary heart disease all with breathing problems, so I really suffer when wearing my N95. But then again it is because I have such problems, I have to wear an N95 mask. I had lung surgery five months ago and isolated myself and still caught Covid. And the variants are always more contagious. When I am in cardio rehab I switch to a surgical mask (which has ear loops) because my oxygen level goes down too much otherwise. But people there all have to wear a mask and are vaccinated as they have health problems. I try to walk outside where I can go without a mask. OTHERWISE I found a N95 mask on Project N95 that has more room inside it so it is easier to breathe. Project N95 has several "new models" of N95, I saw one without straps -
I find the n95 masks to be very, very uncomfortable. They are extremely tight. However, based on the comments I've read herein, I think I'd better tolerate the discomfort and wear the n95 mask.
"....there's the rub" ( Shakespeare 's Hamlet). In the medical setting, the N95 masks must be fitted...as in fight tightly so that air does not come in the side, because it is the mask material that filters the air. Try stretching the straps when mask is new, that helps loosen them. I am half tempted to try the strapless mask sold by Project N95 on the Internet.
Here is the chart showing the effectiveness of masks by type (cloth mask vs. surgical mask vs. N95 respirator mask) and showing the minutes/hours to contagion between two people depending on the type of mask they are wearing (or not wearing!)
I would add that not enough is said about the fact that Covid is mostly an airborne disease travelling on droplets and aerosols. And aerosols can remain in the air for several hours in indoor spaces not well ventilated. So, one can actually catch Covid by going into a small poorly ventilated space where someone sick has recently been.
