Abemaciclib (Verzenio) and fulvestrant (Falsodex) Treatment
I started on a treatment of Abemaciclib and Falsodex for recurrent breast cancer 2 weeks ago. So far, I have not had any side effects. I have heard that a typical side effect is diarrhea. Does is take a few weeks before that starts? Is anyone taking these drugs and have you had side effects? Do you think it has been effective for you?

I’m taking an alpelisib called Piqray and Fulvestrant and I definitely have side effects. Glad you don’t!
In addition to @trivia, @nikki727 @junec @dianamiracle and @wandering have taken Abemaciclib or Falsodex or both. How often are you getting chemo?
I’m currently on abemeciclib and letrozole. I have been for 3 years. I have not ever been on chemo.
I have been on this treatment for 2 months and get my 1st bone and CT scans this week. My breast cancer has spread to my hip and my liver. Just wondering how this treatment is working for others.
I have not been on this combination. I have a friend who is and it has shrunk her tumors, over 6 months they are shrunk down to almost nothing. The doctor says they are there but shrinking and not growing or moving to new locations. He scans her every three months. This is a recurrence for her, and scan week is the longest week, waiting on results. How do you handle that time?
How are you tolerating the side effects of these meds? Is this your first diagnosis or a recurrence?
Hi @jbp, I'd like to add my welcome. I moved your question to this existing discussion:

I did this so you can connect with @thielmann1 who is taking the same regimen.
Jbp, how have the side effects been for you? Thinking of you as you get ready for the upcoming scans.
Hi, this is a recurrence of a tumor I was treated for in 2011. I had a mastectomy, chemo, radiation and was on tamoxifen for 10 years. I was taken off tamoxifen in September and diagnosed with a recurrence in March. Like your friend I am also apprehensive about my upcoming scans, but am hopeful the treatment is working. I have had some diarrhea, but overall the side effects of the treatment have not been bad. I am still getting used to the idea that I have an uncurable disease. I also find it frustrating that they don't really give you a timeline for what to expect. I understand everybody's story is different. Hopefully your friend will continue to respond positively to the treatent!
Thanks! The side effects have not been too bad....a little bit of diarrhea and some fatigue but overall very manageable....hopi g it will stay this way.
I just started this treatment 2 months ago and see that you started in July. Just wondering how it is going for you 10 months later. Hoping to hear that it is going well for you.
Hi, sending best wishes to my fellow MBCs. I have been on Verzenio and Anastrosole since October. Fatigue, bone achiness, and occasional hot flashes have been my chief symptoms.
