Looking for a Benzo wise Doctor in Ohio or Columbus Ohio or any city i
Hello,
I have been on Ativan for 3-4 months now, low dose 2mg, I have cut it back to 1.50 mg. My doctor is tapering me off too fast and also telling me to take Kolonopin 0.25mg to support the tapering.
I am looking for a Benzo wise doctor in Ohio, can somebody help please ??? Do you know any body in Columbus or Ohio who follows the Ashton Method of tapering ?
Thanks for your help!, Mita

What is “too fast”?
@paromita87
I messed up this message and it still probably has errors but maybe you can make some sense out it.
I wouldn't add another drug that you could potentially become dependent on.
The low dose Klonopin may work well for you especially if taken for a short time.
Why not taper more slowly to hopefully get rid of any withdrawal symptoms by increasing your dose until the withdrawal effects are gone then re-start a slower taper by lowering the drug dosage and length of time between dosage cuts.
I agree with the premise of the Ashton manual as far as tapering slowly but I would not add another medication to get off an original medicine. Although people have used another medication as a bridge and it has worked well for them. I believe that if those people who relied on a bridge would have tapered slower chances are they wouldn't have needed the bridge medicine.

If your having withdrawal symptoms I believe that if you are having withdrawal symptoms it's reasonable to assume the taper is too fast.
Take care,
Jake
She could switch over completely to a benzo with a longer half life. That would be reasonable and helpful. I agree adding another benzo would not be beneficial.
@paromita87 I see that @sears has joined the discussion already, which is great because they've mentioned the Ashton Method in previous posts. Perhaps the pair of you can exchange more about the specific method you are interested in learning more about.
Was this method recommended to you or did you come across it in your own research?
I am also in Columbus OH. Did Mita have any luck finding a Benzo wise doctor?
Check out Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring on YouTube. He has a private practice in Utah. He’s an unaddiction specialist. Extremely knowledgeable in my opinion.
I found a benzo wise doc on the benzodiazepine coalition website. She is in Charleston,SC. She is able to treat some patients thru tele med depending on your state. Good luck to you. I have 3 weeks to go and I will be off. Been tapering since February 2023.
Congratulations! May I ask how much and how long you were on Benzod and what rate did you taper off? Ty
I was taking 1.5 at bedtime for sleep off and on for almost a year. I tapered at 10 mg every two weeks and started in February 23 and will end on April 8, 2024. It is a slow and steady process. Went cold turkey in Nov 22 and almost lost my mind and health. Had to reinstate and start the slow taper. I am very sensitive to meds so this is the only way I could do it. My doctor also prescribed Ativan liquid suspension which makes the dose decreases easier than cutting and weighing but it does require good math skills but your doctor or pharmacy should be able to help.
I’m in Columbus OH. My PCP is Geoffrey Vaughan, MD in Upper Arlington. When I wanted to start tapering meds, he referred me to a consulting pharmacist, who has been great. Even if you can’t get into Dr, Vaughan, any OSU physician should be able to refer you to the pharmacist. Currently tapering Effexor, but Ativan is next on my list.
