My ENT doctor recommended mineral oil….inexpensive. You can buy a good size bottle in any pharmacy and a smaller dropper bottle for applications. I have 2 molds and very dry ears both inner and outer. I put a couple of drops directly into the ear canal at night or every other night and apply some to the outer ear. The ear serum mentioned has a lot of beneficial ingredients but also 2 cosmetic preservatives…phenoxyethanol (which is also a stabilizer in perfume and soap) and methylparaben. Admittedly the percentage is probably small.

My thinking is why should I buy a more expensive solution with numerous ingredients and the possibility of contamination when I can use something minimal. Mineral oil is also used in some cosmetics. I have been using it on the advice of my doctor for many years. Just don’t use it prior to inserting the mold or dome or there won’t be a snug.

My 10 cents (inflation)

I was also told about the mineral oil - use that an sometimes an over the counter bacterial ointment that was also recommended. My left ear (non implant) is the one that gives me fits. Always itchy, flaky or sometimes seems full of fluid.
