How can I transfer care to Mayo Clinic or get Mayo involved?

My mom has been at Aultman Hospital for almost 2 months with declining health. The doctors still aren't sure what the cause is. On Friday, they thought it was TTPHUS and did 1 round of platelets treatment. But today, they lead blood doctor stopped the treatment because she wasn't convinced mom was struggling with TTPHUS. Now the doctor has prescribed a different medication and treatment.

Because the doctors don't seem to know what's going on and are having a hard time diagnosing and treating her, I'm wondering if Mayo can do something better.

How does a family go about getting Mayo involved and possibly transferring a patient for care to one of their locations?

@rhen2714, this must be hard to see your mom's declining health and few answers about what is going on.

I encourage you to contact the Mayo Clinic location of your choice to request an appointment for your mom. Mayo Clinic welcomes both new and existing patients for virtual and in-person care in adherence with federal and state executive orders and guidance.

Video and phone visits also can be great options for appointments before, after or in place of face-to-face care. Appointment coordinators will recommend a virtual visit if it best fits your individual needs.
