Hi first time I am posting. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and Covid 19 in December of 2020. Started
using my Res Med Airsense 10 shortly afterwards, while I was suffering through Covid for more than a month.
I never had an in person fitting for my C-Pap machine, it was a virtual visit. I also didn't see my Pulmonologist
until April. During the first month I was using the C-Pap I had multiple issues. I had water and bits of something coming into my mouth. The person I talked too that did the fitting said it was probably nothing and to keep using the machine. The machine just kept getting worse -noise wise- and my wife was being kept awake. I was not sleeping very well, even though the monitor showed my breathing was not stopping as often. I stopped using before I had my appointment with my Doctor. We discussed other options such as Inspire. I did have an ENT appt. and it seemed to be a good choice. My Pulmonologist saw 2 spots on my lung he wanted me to get checked. I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer in September. I was never a smoker, had no reason I should have gotten Lung Cancer. I asked if Covid could have caused it, he said it is causing a lot of different illnesses.
I also asked about the C-Pap machine as a cause, he didn't think that it should be that. Then in October I found out about the Phillips recall while researching Lung Cancer treatments and found out the C-Pap machine could cause Cancer. I was diagnosed with a very rare Cancer, Large & Small Cell Endocrine Carcinoma. The C-Pap along with Covid 19 at the same time is the only thing that makes sense to me why I have Cancer. Has anybody else been diagnosed with Cancer after using the ResMed Air Sense 10? Please comment. As a side note after Chemo and Immunotherapy(ongoing), I have been told the Cancer is about 80% reduced.

Hello @briancody, Welcome to Connect. I am sorry to hear you were recently diagnosed with lung cancer and you have never smoked. There is an older discussion where members who have never smoked were diagnosed with lung cancer. I believe the members are still active on Connect so you may be able to ask questions and share information in the discussion here - Never Smokers & Lung Cancer: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/lung-cancer-never-smokers/

If I am reading your post correctly, you've only been using the ResMed Airsense 10 CPAP since you were diagnosed in December 2020. The good news is that ResMed CPAP devices are not part of the recall. The recall was only for specific Philips Respironics devices. I had two of them with the recall and have switched to using a ResMed AirMini CPAP. You can find out more about the recall here - https://www.usa.philips.com/healthcare/e/sleep/communications/src-update

You may also want to look through the different discussions in the Lung Cancer group if you have any questions - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/lung-cancer/

That's good news that the chemo and immunotherapy is going well and your cancer has been reduced. Do you have any other questions you are trying to get answered?
