Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?
Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

Morning bruceandruth1970~
Hope your day is starting out well.
I googled and found that "Life Extension"..indeed did have bone-building formulas and then I saw that Dr. Stephan Strum was endorsing his own formula..also has an ancillary strontium one. Look for the one with his name on the bottle..in big letters! I'm going to order it soon....just finishing up a bottle of "Bone-up"....Knowing Dr. Strum's background and dedication to his profession...I feel incredibly lucky to have found something he created to take. I have full confidence in this man. As I've mentioned..he saved my husbands life in 2002, when he had stage 4 prostate cancer. My husband and Dr. Strum spent a lot of time together to come up with a plan of attacking his serious cancer. My dear husband passed last year, not from cancer, but Parkinson's with LBD....
I looked at a lot of the vibration plates out there and settled on the "Life-Pro" one...they offered a variety of models, sizes, prices and a lifetime warranty. I got the 'waver', blue model...had to join Amazon Prime to get all the discounts and free delivery...but was well worth it. It weighs about 23lbs..BUT, has a handle and a roller for very easy moving. The fed-ex guy put it on my door threshold and I slid it in and out of the box...ready to go..no set-up. One of you on this post ordered a 'mini' version of this same machine..it's the same concept..but a bit lighter. Hope to hear from her about her experiences with it. I enjoy using it in front of my chair when I sit down...feels wonderful! I use it standing..still in phase 1 and 2...there are foot placings on the plate that go from a walking vibration to a jogging one..then to a running mode....it has a 15 automatic timer on it. I go from a warm-up, standing position in the walking mode...then shifting my feet wider to the jogging mode..and then wider yet to the running mode...wow!...then I reverse and go back through the modes to the walking one..to slow it all down and relax....
I just had cataract surgery, so I haven't been using the machine standing..but have used it while sitting and in the lowest vibration mode....just to relax....nice.
I'm scheduled to get my DEXA this July....finger's X'ed!
Wishing you well!
I like the "or so she says." The company has a very aggressive marketing campaign with posts on sites, including this, I believe, that not only sound a tad unlikely but they also sound alike. As if maybe there is a set format for rave reviews that get posted everywhere. Or are being generated by artificial intelligence. If you read the OsteoStrong reviews, check the date that the person joined and it's usually the day before. Who joins a forum and only posts once, and that one time is a rave review for a commercial enterprise? Caveat emptor as advertising is a lot more creative online. I'm sure there are a few genuine posts but the pattern is very, shall we say, suspect.
It sounds like you are doing everything possible. Hope you have great results from your cataract surgery. I will be anxious to hear about your dexa scan in July.
I will check out the other vitamins.
Take care.
I'm not sure if this has been referenced elsewhere but here is a recent meta-analysis which supports the efficacy of whole body vibration for bone density. Great news for those of us who've invested in these machines! https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0965229922000139?via%3Dihub
A friend sent me an email that she read that Russian gymnasts use a machine to strengthen bones called a "purrer" because it vibrates at 50 hz which, they say, is the same frequency cats purr at. I like the notion even if I can't verify it's accuracy.
I guess I will play devil's advocate here for @bunky44 and anyone reading this thread. I also had one fracture from a fall, and a DEXA score about the same as @bunky44 - after my 5 years of cancer meds.
My doc did not want me on Prolia, and had concerns about Reclast due to now disproven exacerbation of existing afib. I tried Forteo and really could not tolerate a second dose, went to an immunologist and tried to get desensitized, and then tried to enter a study for the Tymlos patch, but my two doses of Forteo disqualified me. In other words, I tried hard to get on meds for more than 10 years.
Posts on natural methods used to reassure me. I did tai chi, walked and did the usual supplements. (No strontium- it throws off DEXA.) Then last spring I fractured 3-4 new spinal vertebrae, with one unwise movement. The pain had me crawling on the floor and I could not do dishes, laundry, cook...impossible to lift a glass of water. A year later and there is improvement w/meds and healing but much of the disability seems permanent.
I tried Tymlos and landed in the ICU with afib shortly after. This happened infrequently before Tymlos but it did feel connected. I stopped, and met with two cardiologists and two endocrinologists. I was given a choice of Tymlos restart or Evenity and chose to restart Tymlos at a low dose, in the morning instead of evening, and moved the dose up slowly over months. I am now in my 7th month.
I really liked Keith McCormick's book "The Whole Body Approach to Osteoporosis" but noted that he himself did meds at one point.
I just feel I should share my experience to prevent others from fracturing like me. I will do anything to stay on Tymlos. There is no point in listing side effects, but yes, they are sometimes hard. Imagine if I had found this way to get on it, and found this kind of commitment, BEFORE my fractures instead of after. My whole life would be different.
I did sword tai chi before my fractures, with a lot of young people. I worried but a big part of me felt immune and didn't think fractures would happen to me. It is a form of denial.
People say they want to avoid meds to preserve quality of life. Well, fractures affect quality of life more than meds, in my experience! Hope this helps someone.
Sorry for your pain. Yes your post has helped me!!!
yes it does. Denial was a good term to use. We all think we are immune till we aren’t. I’ve done natural route with exercise, but didn’t make much of a difference. Thanks for the encouragement
It' $189/month is expensive Boulder CO but considering the dangerous options covered by insurance (like Fosamax and Reclast), it's worth it..I just had my 4th session...I am looking forward to when I can get my next Dexa scan.
it depends on the city as well. Boulder Co isn't cheap...it's $189/month here. and they allow make up sessions if you travel...also other cities will allow you to do a session there if you're traveling..you have to clear it with them before you go and make an appointment...they'll check your home city where you're a member to make sure you're in good standing (paid up to date), I'm doing a reciprocal in Reno next month when I visit my family.
