Anyone had experience with OsteoStrong, who is not a franchisee?

Has anyone had experience with OsteoStrong? It suggests you will get a large increase in bone density while using their facility 10 minutes per WEEK. Somewhat pricey at $99 and up per month, but am curious if anyone who is NOT a franchisee, has experienced this program?

bunky44, thank you for your reply. My back is still bothering me from using the machines. I have an appointment with a rheumatologist in 2 weeks. I take one of Life Extensions’ supplements, so i will google Dr Stephan Strum.
Are you on any osteoporosis medicines? I have been on Evista for the last 3 years, but my dexa scan was worse this time.
Thank you again.

I have recently joined. Where I live it is 200 dollars/month for probably less than 15 minutes once weekly. My osteoporosis is severe and I am in the "high fracture risk" group. I'm not sure about it.. but I would also like other's opinions who have used it for a year or more.

Morning bruceandruth1970~
I'm glad you are looking for alternative options for your bone issues. No..I haven't taken any of the 'drugs' for my bones other than nutritional support and dietary changes..which I do feel ever so much better, overall.
I lost a physician that wouldn't keep me as a patient after I refused to take her advice and go on Prolia. I still would not feel comfortable in taking any of the 'drugs' that are out there..the contraindications seem to me to
be yet another worrisome addition to our lives that leave us with more concerns and questions..along with the disparate aches and pains..leading to more stress. I'm sorry you're still having back pains from your OsteoStrong workout. Maybe it could be a good thing..I always look to the positive results and not dwell on the negative. I just got a bodybuddy moist hot/cold wrap...heat it up in the micro and wear it around your back. My back hurt me from picking up the package at my post office!..it's very heavy, or seemed to be for me....BUT...I was overjoyed at the relief it gave me..and I could walk around with it on..not like my heated up rice filled gym socks! I was having odd nerve stinging pains until I put the wrap around me and it took away all the pain I was having. I had the best night's sleep I've had in a long time as well...(I didn't wear it to bed) My sister sent this to me from Amazon, along with 2 thinner ones which added to the weight of the package. Getting relief from pain that doesn't have other side effects is a wonderful thing! Sorry about your experiences with Evista ...I wish you better results taking more natural products and being wiser in what you do. It's a long journey..but can have it's high points along the way. Good for you for seeking out ways to benefit your life. I wish you the best....keep moving...follow your heart...If you do decide to get the products that Dr. Strum is promoting and formulated..please post your feelings about it as well as your results.

Morning rubyz~
I have the same diagnosis as you....I feel I was lucky to not have injured myself by trying out the workout at OsteoStrong. It's intense..no doubt about that. Perhaps very helpful for those that are not in the "high fracture risk" category....for others..maybe a bit to much. I thought it would be helpful for me...but in the end, I was just glad I didn't make my condition worse...phew...
I agree with the data supporting the reasons for the need of the high resistance workout..along with the vibration plate...but, maybe not so good for the shape our bones are currently in. Movement that doesn't cause harm is an individuals decision..we have to know our bodies and what we can benefit from. I was a yoga teacher for years..but never knew there were poses that folks with osteoporosis should not do. Now there is much more information about this. I no longer do twists and certain other poses..list this under.."Live and Learn".
Your bones are telling you to do more gentle exercises or they will not like it and cause you more pain...fractures you never want to have. My biggest pains come from a compression fracture I sustained from a miss marked step..in 2012....I caught myself from going down on my face..but caught a fence and slammed into that..mid-back...I now live with that injury...I can't wear a weighted vest which could be good for others that don't have a compression fx...even a backpack hurts me....I now am very aware of what I do and shouldn't do. Guess I'm a bit wiser about how much I can push my body. Knowing that is no magic bullet out there is reassuring in a way by placing the responsibilities back on us and our innate inner knowledge of our own bodies. Follow your heart here...we're not made of glass...we need to 'use' our bodies..but perhaps in more gentler ways.

GM All, I'm joining the discuss on Prolia. My mom is 93 and started Prolia last year and has the injection every six months. She has Kaiser! My mom has Osteoporosis pretty bad. But over the last 3 months she has eczema and before she took the Prolia I asked if it would cause any skin irritation and they said it shouldn't affect her skin. Well Thursday night she started feeling a tightness in her legs and feet and was very fatigued. So, I almost took her to urgent care or hospital. But then we have a foot path that messages the feet so did that for an hour and also was encouraged to use Rice Brand oils and soap also with the eczema prescription. Well, now I see online research is showing a detailed list of side effects of Prolia. I can't believe that I ask this medical question at Kaiser. The leg issues and weakness could be the results of the Prolia. Thanks Wanda S

Thank you for the lengthly reply! Live and learn.. yes, yikes.. so true. I am definitely concerned and approach with caution. The woman who "marketed" this program to me had a T score of -3.7 in the lumbar spine and was able to improve it using Osteostrong.. or so she says. She did not take bisphosphonates or other meds for osteoporosis. She was much hardier than I am.. a slip of my former self at 113 lbs and 5 `8" (well, that's a lie, I shrunk a little...)

Well...rubyz...you are a wisp..what we call, affectionately.."bird-boned"....
The data coming from studies done by NASA has proven that we have to be able to apply 4.5x our body weight to 'wake up' our bones! Now..how are you going to do that safely? Not so fast....could you do resistance training with 508.5lbs of pressure...I think not....
You might try and gain some weight..safely...eating more quality foods and more proteins. Also, check into vibration plates. There is a hz number that is very good for waking up our muscles and bones to start to re-build..also coming from NASA's studies. I have the LifePro waver machine and love it! It has so many different phases that I haven't even explored yet. Even with this machine..I watch what I do with it...taking it easy..as it's a very powerful machine and at it's higher limits could also shake me a bit too much..so I'm starting out slow and listening to my body. I made a spelling error..I got the 'bed-buddy" wraps...feels wonderful!! I think these can also be found at Walmart..and Amazon.
Keep a smile on your face...you're doing great...keep moving and enjoy your days.

I was scared for a hot minute. Imagine my relief to find I was only "bird-boned" and not "bird-brained." I might lose my job if the latter were true (even though I'm sure it is from time to time). Unfortunately, the weight loss is due to a chronic condition called microscopic colitis. I wish I could gain weight, as does most everyone with this condition. The only way anyone typically does is on budesonide (a steroid) which adds to the bone density problem over time. On the protein bandwagon now after years of vegetarianism. Read the studies on vibration plates.. doesn't seem like there is anything definitive in the literature, but I appreciate the recommendations. Will look into LifePro and bed buddy too. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply. I looked at the Life Extension vitamins, but did not see one that showed 10 pills a day, only 4 with 2 taken in the am and 2 in the pm.
I’m also curious about your life pro vibrating platform. Which one did you get. Have you had a bone density test since you have been using it?
Have a great day😊😊😊

Morning rubyz~
I appreciate getting your reply. I'm so sorry you have been suffering with this condition for so long...not that even a moment of this would be easy to handle. You must be a very brave and committed to life, soul...hope you give yourself a little pat on your back, now and then.
Is your 'diet' for this condition limited to your protein chose as well as other foods? I've recently switched to a more plant-based way of eating and looking to get every gm. of protein I can...sorta obsessed with this now, I think. Pea protein is now in favor as it contains more protein then other vegetables..which is none...
Garden of Eden has a good pea protein powder..I've been using it..good in a smoothie. Maybe a more Mediterranean way of eating might give you the necessary calories and proteins to assist you in not only gaining some weight back..but also in a healthy, balanced way. I still eat eggs, turkey bacon, chicken, salmon, turkey....but no dairy or meat....I feel ever so much better these days. Good luck with this...I know you'll find a way to re-build your body.

The reasoning/data, behind vibration plates..to my understanding..is that it emits a certain hz frequency, that our bodies are attuned to. NASA had to find a way for their astronauts to re-gain there bone-density after time in space, with no gravity. They developed a couple projects of improving bones like trampoline jumping....but an enhanced version, a professional one. (I have a "Rebounder" that I use..well me and my cat.)
It does more than walking on a treadmill...it's an ant-gravity force...one of the other projects they developed and used was vibration plate therapy...Granted..they used the large industrial ones....but the hz for healing is still at between 12-40hz....These two things caught my attention..so I use them now. Not sure what my next DEXA will show...due to get one in July.

Seems like all of us that are on this post have more than one or two or more health issues. It's so refreshing to be among such a strong, dedicated, inquisitive group of folks. May we prosper!
