I am having shoulder replacement surgery in a few weeks. I’m glad to read that taking Tylenol was all that some of you took after the surgery. I was told that I’d probably take painkillers for 3 days and Tylenol afterwards. I was also told that sleeping sitting up is best afterwards. How long did that last?

Again...... be sure to ask for a nerve block catheter as part of your anesthesia. I wore the block in my neck for 5 days after surgery releasing pain meds as needed. Pretty much 0 pain. Also use an ice machine. My shoulder is 1.5 years out and doing pretty much everything I'd hoped to do. Good luck.

I believe you need a specialist to put in the nerve block. You should contact your surgeon ASAP to request one. Also ask for lots of topical anesthetic before they insert the block. The first time they didn't use enough and the block insertion hurt more than the surgery. The 2nd time I asked for more local anesthesia and it was a piece of cake. Can't begin to tell you how effective a nerve block catheter is. Mine lasted 5 days for both shoulder surgeries, including TRSR with pretty much no pain. Think I took a couple of Tylenol. I wouldn't have this surgery without it. Good luck.

I also has RSR at Mayo Rochester last year. The anesthesiologist inserted the nerve block before surgery. No Pain. I had the nerve block for 4 days with no pain in my shoulder. After taking out the nerve block I only used Tylenol and Advil for pain.

Has anyone dealt with a cystic lesion on the humeral head? My CT scan showed one.
