I was diagnosed with gastroparesis by doing a stomach emptying testing. I am going on 2 years with it and luckily no vomiting. My doctor wanted me to take gabepetin but I said no because of the side effects. She then recommended Iberogast. It is for stomach motility issues and so far it works. All natural. I buy it at a nutrition store like Vitamin Shop or GNC but this store is a locally owned one. You can get it on Amazon. I just add the drops to any liquid I drink with a meal. But I also don't overeat. I don't eat anything I shouldn't because I don't want besoars. And I drink Equate Plus with 13 grams of protein and vitamins and minerals. You can buy it at Walmart. It is the same as Ensure but cheaper and was recommended by a dietician. My over the counter vitamins are mostly gel caps to make it easier for my stomach to digest. I also get coughing spells after I eat so i chew a stick of sugar-less gum and it works! I hardly ever eat beef unless it ground beef. I cut most of the saturated fat out of my diet. And I started exercising. I have also found out that if you exercise or just walk for 10 minutes after you eat, it helps your stomach to process the food.

@suemer I also take Iberogast- especially with red meats. Makes a big difference. Getting mine through Amazon.

Hello @suemer and @astaingegerdm

While I do not have a DX of gastroparesis, I have had several upper digestive tract surgeries and my digestive tract seems to run at a different pace than prior to the surgeries.

I am most interested in knowing more about Iberogast. What exactly does it do for you? How has it helped?

I hope all 3 of these pictures of the bottle are attached. It says not to take past 4 weeks without seeing your doctor so I asked by gastroenterologist about that. She said that warning is for people who just decide to take it without the symptoms or being diagnosed with what we have. I have been on it for 2 years. NO side effects.

Here are the other views of the bottle. On Amazon you can even get a travel size.

Thank you @suemer

In what way does Iberogast help you? Does it keep you from feeling nauseous, from vomiting, or feeling full quickly, etc.?

Iberogast increases the emptying rate of my stomach, it seems, especially with harder to digest beef, ground beef too. Not so full and uncomfortably bloated.

I do not vomit. I do not feel nauseous. Sometimes I feel full but it is usually because I eat something too close to the next meal and my stomach can't process it that fast. Iberogast is designed to soothe your stomach and help with motility. it can't hurt to try it. It workis. My "meat portion" of a meal is at about 3-4 ounces. Fish I eat more of easily. I probably drink about 2 of my Equate a day. I am working with a wellness coach for my osteoporosis twice a week so I think that helps my gastroparesis but not sure. I also have to make sure that my meal is a few hours before the workout so I've times that for about 10:30 am. Then I drink an Equate an hour before. I am only 5'2" and 110 pounds so weight is hard to maintain We workout for an hour each time. I have been doing that for over 1 1/2 years. If anyone can verify that exercise helps gastroparesis, I would appreciate knowing that.

Thanks to you @suemer and @astaingegerdm for the additional information.

As I said, I've never been DXd with gastroparesis but my diet is very similar to yours and my eating is also similar. Small, frequent meals and they are all of a soft-nature. If I eat after I begin feeling full, I'm in trouble with nausea, etc. I've often found that a 10 minute walk after a meal with help a great deal. Tai-Chi has been a great exercise for me as it has very gentle movements that are relaxing and comfortable. Here is a short (9 minute) Youtube video that I use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxcNBejxlzs. (I'm not a fan of yoga.)

I'm also 5' and weigh 110 and have some other health problems that keep me from doing a lot of aerobic activity. I will give the Iberogast a try. I see that Amazon has a small bottle for just $20, so not much to lose if it doesn't help me. Thanks to you both!

Thank you @suemer for the information about Iberogast and about equate plus! Boost doesn’t taste very good to me so I’m looking forward to trying the equate. What favor do you prefer?
