When is your appointment?

Hello when I went to Mayo Scottsdale I stayed in a hotel on the Mayo campus. I believe all the information is on the Mayo Scottsdale site. The hotel has a shuttle to the hospital/clinic or you can walk (very short walk). However the heat keeps me from walking. I did not have a car so you can eat at the hotel ($$) or eat at the hospital cafeteria. After my appts I would buy something for dinner and keep in my hotel room (it has a microwave and small refrig). That way I did not have to eat every meal at the hotel. You could also order food and have it delivered to the hotel. Mayo Scottsdale was amazing. The processes (appts, lines, scheduling) were very efficient and my docs were great. I also have the number of a person who picks me up and drops me off at the airport. He is very reliable and nice. Best Wishes.

Hi Dave, not too sure how long you are going to be here and what treatment you are getting, but here are some ideas for your consideration based on my experiences.

I actually live her during the winter so I didn’t need any lodging, but my brother in law who is a physician from Rochester comes to the Phoenix so.te once a month and he stays at the Marriott right on the Mayo site. I think they have suites if you are here for a long stay

My favorite restaurants are EGGstacy in Market Place on Pima Road and Thompson Peak great for breakfast (but big portions), another Market Place restaurant is Vic and Ola’s also in market place they are an Italian restaurant with good outdoor seating. Finally check out the Scottsdale Quarter and the zinc Bistro a French restaurant. There are multiple eating locations there and also a lot of fun shops.

Finally go to the Musical Instrument Museum, which is on Mayo Boulevard a little west of the clinic.

Hi Dave, we live about 30 minute drive west of the Mayo Phoenix campus, so the places we hang out at aren't near the hospital. However, during the 20 treatments I had at the hospital my wife and I would grab a bite at the little Cafe in Building PHX -3 where the radiation oncology department is located. They have pretty good simple breakfasts and lunches. The lady who works at the grill became a friend and exemplifies the hospitality that we received at Mayo. There's a grand piano in the lobby of Bldg 3 and sometimes there'll be people playing soothing music there.
There's some construction going on at the hospital and not sure how that effects noise levels around there. The Marriott may be far enough away that it doesn't affect it that much. North Scottsdale is a short drive east of the hospital with a lot of newer hotels and restaurants also.
The Music Museum is worth the visit if you have the time. It's not a quick visit. Cave Creek, north of the hospital, is also an interesting place to visit.

Hi Dave, Welcome to our home away from home, I had my transplant there in 2018 an a frequent visitor. I live about 70 miles south of the campus but am familiar with the area as I would stay at hotels near the campus when the visits were lengthy. Being Jun when you arrive it will be hot so I would probally make sure your vehicle is serviced before coming. On that note depending on the length of time your here and how far you want to travel for siteseeing your on the almost direct path to northern Arizona like flagstaff, Payson plus the grand canyon is about 2 hours from Phoenix. But for hotels I like 2 hotels about 2 miles from the campus the Marriott on the campus is very expensive and if you have a car the 2 I mentioned are a Holiday Inn and a Cambria Hotel next Door to each other. Don't forget to mention your a Mayo patient as you will get a discount. Very clean both of them and the Holiday inn has free full breakfast but the Cambria is not free but cooked to order. With a large shopping mall only about .5 miles away with lots of restaurants. And even a little strip mall near the hotels. That has places like subway type eateries.
Your are coming tho at a less expensive hotel rate since in the summer our rates drop almost in half. No one comes here in the Summer typically.
