Brown spot in my right eye! What could it be?
I got done doing some work outdoors yesterday and when I came in I noticed I have a brownish spot almost looks like a water drop in my right eye. It moves around. I'm calling the Eye Dr. on Monday. Anyone else ever get this?

It is good to get your update, @riflemanz64. I'm sure you are relieved as well. Did your doctor say if this type of floater is unusual?
He said it was normal and due to age. Going to be 67 this year. He said the floater broke away and that's what you want to have happen. I see my Glaucoma Dr. in June so he can check it out.
I watched two YouTube videos on floaters and there are some studies done that said to eat pineapple slices every day and it helped to clear up the floaters. I think I’ll try it but I would put them in my blender with a cup of almond milk to neutralize the acid seeing how I have Gerd and Barrett’s. Has anyone ever tried this home remedy?

Hi,
Well, that is intriguing and is the first I hear about it so I looked up the study done in Tiawan. The first thing that jumped out at me that there was no control group...that is people with floaters who did not eat a set amount of pineapple daily. It was also a pilot study with a small number of participants.
Fresh pineapple (not canned) has bromelain and bromelain can dissolve collagen which is what floaters are made up of. How do we know that the bromelain makes it way into the eye vitreous? I don't see any explanation of that. Also there is dissolved collagen in the eye and collagen throughout our bodies. Why does fresh pineapple only dissolve the floaters and what does it do to all the other collagen in our bodies if we were to eat a certain amount daily.
Fresh pineapple has a lot of sugar if eaten daily which may not be a good idea and could not be eaten by certain people. I love fresh pineapple but would not consume it daily and certainly not just for floaters. I personally think the initial study is dangerous to take on its own and the researches said "they think" there may be a link between eye health and pineapple. I also wouldn't base any medical decisions on a You Tube video. This is my opinion but I would need more facts.

I guess I won’t waste my time eating pineapple and will hope my floaters go away in a few months.

Just like tinnitus there is no easy cure. They may go away or you just may get used to them and not notice them….just like tinnitus. I would only be concerned if they interfered with your vision or you have a stationary floater.
I have tinnitus in one ear and floaters in one eye…nothing to stress out about.
But you did the right thing and got on this forum and asked.
