@pwgrimes, it sounds like you are a good advocate for your health. It is frustrating when access to care is limited and phone calls don't get returned. Good for you for persisting and getting an appointment with the colorectal doctor in 3 weeks.

I realize that 3 weeks is a long time, especially when you're in such pain. Did you ask to be put on the wait list in case of cancellation?

This is also a good time to start a diary of your symptoms and list of questions to ask. Use this time to be proactice. I use a diary of symptoms to help do the detective work before seeing a doctor. I take note of a symptom, for example, diarrhea, when did it happen, how severe, for how long and any possible triggers, food or drink you consumed, or activities you were doing at the time. Do the same thing for pain or any other symptoms you may be having. Is this something you might be able to do?

I am trying to get by. It is very difficult when the pain is continual. I am having to keep the stool in a liquid form to come out. If it is hard it kills me more and hurts the rectum sphincter muscle more. There is a raw wound there I can feel and it just keeps throbbing with every breath.
My digestive system is not working right because of celiac. So I can’t follow advice for a person with normal function. Thank you for your response. I am also under a lot of stress from my husband that does not help. He is very insensitive.
