What causes Clicking or Popping in Throat when Swallowing?
I was doing some neck massages a few days ago and then afterwards whenever I swallow, I feel a clicking/popping sensation and sound when my larynx moves up upon swallow. There is no pain at the moment but the popping sensation in my throat gives me anxiety whenever I swallow. Is this the result of the cartilage rubbing on each other? Is it from the hyoid bone rubbing the thyroid cartilage? Are there exercises that can fix this?

you need to have a CT scan in order to know the the cartilage's condition
This also just started with me. No pain or trouble swallowing. Just weird clicking.. Not every swallow
I always get clicking in my jaw too???
Sorry, my English writing is not good i got same problem a week ago, but after reading almost all the posts i noticed that most of us in this thread suffer from one or all of these problems 1- Anxiety 2- Acid reflux 3- Obsessive-compulsive disorder ( ocd ) and fear of diseases, I do not know whether is this related to these problems or not, but I think It is due to tightening of the neck muscles or tension within the neck organs, and most importantly and reassuringly, it does not indicate a malignant disease. Let us reduce anxiety and no one is perfect.
So about a couple days ago I noticed that when I swallow with my head in a slight down position or just below a neutral position I’ll have a pop or crack sensation just left of my Adam’s apple and I saw someone in here with the same problem when I look up to the right am laying on my back or I can swallow and there won’t be a pop or click I don’t know what it is and has been giving me anxiety thinking it’s the worst I’m 25 I hope this isn’t something serious and just some anxiety that’s making this all bad but should I go to the doctor ? Or should I wait ? I have no pain no tenderness no trouble swallowing just the stupid click at the end of my swallow
Thank you.
Welcome @jaymart, I think if for nothing more than to ease your mind and reduce any anxiety you have, it would be worth a trip to have an appointment with an ENT. There is a video that describes how to release the muscles that attach to the hyoid bone that might be worth a try.
Didn’t seem to really help much and it’s going to be going on a week of this annoyingness what should I do
I've started experiencing a clicking on the top of my throat about 2 weeks ago. I was sitting at my desk and leaned on my hand sitting upright push neck and felt a little pop. After that the clicking started. It went away after a few days. I went to concert and jumped around for a while and it started back and hasn't gone away yet. It seems it really happen when I'm looking straight down or down to the left. When it happens when I'm looking forward it doesn't feel as intense. Curious if anyone can point me in the right direction of some sort of treatment. I should also add before all this started I had about 7 or 8 days of some of the worst anxiety I've experienced.
I also have this happen occasionally, usally for only a few minutes at a time.
