Y-90 liver cancer treatment: What's your experience?

Posted by mudshark @mudshark, Dec 8, 2019

I recently was treated with y-90 on a tumor in my liver. I am interested in knowing of others that have had experiences good, or bad, and of long term results. I have had prior resection of the liver to remove a tumor but a new tumor surfaced in a different section. I am hoping the y-90 will prove to be a more permanent solution. Thanks

I it a second treatment or the first treatment after the mapping?

I’ve now had two mappings and three radiation shoots, Was a little disappointing because I had gone almost a year without a tumor popping up then all of a sudden it came out of nowhere. This was a little scary because there was a thrombus attached that was trying to sneak into a branch of the portal vein. Once in the portal vain it can spread to the rest of the liver. Scans have since shown that it did not spread thank God.

Since I’ve been through it two other times I’m pretty secure they will kill this one too, The others I had Y90 on are still there but they’re dead,

I still support y90 and would do it as many times as I can because It’s worked for me but I’m really praying no more tumors will pop up.

I always have a CT scan a month after treatment and they can pretty much tell what it did then every three months to keep an eye on it.

Has anyone else had experiences with varacies? I have had them since I was diagnosed with cirrhosis but they were small grade 1 and too small to be banded. This last EGD I had showed grade 3 and they banded four.

Soooo this was kind of bad news month after doing so well for two years.

Let us know what they are recommending after you meet with IR this week and good luck Parrot.

Thanks Diane. This will be my first visit so mapping and treatment to follow. I had no tumor growth for two years but now it has started to grow. Hoping, like you, that no new rumored pop up. Sorry to hear you had a new tumor. Glad that Y90 is an option. Are you on the transplant list?
I also had varices. Low grade now but large enough to be handed first time around. I take Coreg to keep new ones from forming by alleviating portal hypertension. It has worked well. No more nose bleeds, bleeding gums, or feeling like I was having a heart attack sometimes even in the day, but usually at night. I’ve been on coreg for two years now and I am feeling much better. The banding was not bad either. Just like a regular endoscopy.
Good luck on your journey, Diane. Will let you know how it all shakes out. Thanks again for listening.

Sadly I lost my love in January 25 we had done everything y90 lonsurf, chemo etc.
my question is why do they let people suffer when the cure is already here and big pharma continues to reap the dollars from the toxic chemicals used.
I am so sad at losing my soulmate and the other half of my soul.
We found d something to stop covid and yet we are still trying to find a pathway to a cure for cancers. Cancer is a devious enemy and it needs strategic planning in finding the language it speaketh…find the language and the development of a cure is there.
What can I say except I cry for all the souls lost to cancer.
President Biden’s Moonshot program indicates simply it is a shot to the moon and I ask what if that shot misses.
Appropriate it is as I have named it Stargate Cancer cures. For opening the stars to the gates of cure is what all cancer patients wish to have.
Please government officials no more blah blah blah and empty talk…ACTION NOW is needed.
I will be a strong advocate for finding the CURE in my own path of life.

Dear Yiannis,

Oh I’m SO sad to hear this news. You must be devastated.

I know it doesn’t help much but you tried everything there was to try and arranged some of the best medical care available. Cancer is just an evil, evil unpredictable disease. Was it the liver or the colorectal cancer they couldn’t cure? I’m sorry the Y90, Lonsurf or the chemo was not more effective.

I’m sure you did everything in your power to make him comfortable towards the end. You got back to Greece and I’m sure he’s looking down at you saying thank you, thank you.

May God give you strength to get through this. Having been through it with my husband I know you feel like half of you is missing.

Please stay in touch if you just want to chat sometimes.

God bless,

Diane

Thank you all for your caring and concerns and yes we must fight for the cure to be found now..we have lost too many lives to cancer and more toxic chemicals are being used. The answer is quite simple in that the government needs to fund 1 trillion dollars to end this disease. We all need to write to the monied Congress who are interested in their wealth and forget that cancer is a battle to fight. We must all speak up and write to them and force them to allocate funding for more and more research. The time is now and the fight must begin with all of us survivors to honor the memory of those brave souls who have lost their lives in the battle of cancer.

I will advocate this in as many forums as I can..

Yiannis,
I am so sorry for your loss. It is a true testament of your courage as a couple that you fought valiantly to find a cure. In doing so you must have traveled a difficult and bonding road that many do not experience. I hope you find a sliver of solace in that journey and your lives together. Many are never blessed with a love so strong. Wishing that the memories of your good times together help to pull you through this difficult time. With sincere condolences,
Susan

Susan thank you from the heart for your kind note and it is sincerely appreciated. The loss of your soulmate is one of the most difficult things in life. Love continues for a life time even after life is gone. We who are left must place ourselves in the other’s footsteps to know what their suffering is and was. We live for each other and love each other as we were meant to be. The solace I have found in what was written 3000 years ago about the Tree of Life to which we all go and then return. As my late mom used to say to me that souls that are in love are destined to meet again to continue their journey. Memories that are kept alive by we that remain back makes the departed ones live. Never forget them and you are correct that the journey made in love always ends in love again and again.
My sweetheart left notes all over about his journey with cancer and I am finding them in all places. And I am putting them together for they are an amazing testament of a deep soul thinker and visionary. We are all visionaries and soul thinkers but we must reach down and touch our soul to discover its beauty.
Again thank you for your note and we must all keep in touch with those whose journey with cancer is ongoing to give encouragement and strength.
May Our Creator Bless Everyone
