Eliminating Foods for Neuropathy pain

Posted by avmcbellar @avmcbellar, Jul 20, 2019

I have tried doing without certain foods and drinks containing caffeine and have discovered it helps me to lower my neuropathy pain to a level that is tolerable. It is not easy to eliminate chocolate, tea, and coffee from my diet.

This is something I've wondered about... I watch my carb intake closely, taking less than 45 per meal and always including some good fats, like butter, olive oil, avocados, mayonaise.. well, those are the good ones in my book anyway.. My doctor gave me a list of foods with the carb counts and I choose what I eat from the lower count things. BUT, when I have too many carbs my feet will burn and toes swell like sausages.. I'm always open to learning more about what can keep the hurt away.. Suggestions, please?

I have burning feet and just ordered nicotinamide riboside its a precursor to Nad. They have a current clinical trial for it, but we can all try it and report it here.

Welcome @gbny1224, I'm not sure I understand why you want to take the nicotinamide riboside supplement. I thought the clinical trial has to do with COVID but maybe I'm not reading it correctly.

Do you have burning feet symptoms along with neuropathy?

@gbny1224 - I thought I would post the link for you that shows 33 clinical trials for nicotinamide riboside. I saw a couple on specific types of neuropathy but didn't read through the details of the trials.

Sorry

This is not for me.

I had bloodwork to determine which foods cause inflammation for me and found outbthe biggest culprit is eggs. Since I cut them out pain has lessened. Caffeine and simple sugars are likely a contributor for most people.

@irishlady1974
Guess I'm an exception to the sugar culprit. I deleted sugar long ago and for me it made no difference so I started it again and haven't noticed a difference yet.

Curious, @irishlady1974, what bloodwork showed this egg being a culprit? Is it because eggs are considered allergens? What doctor (field of practice) ordered the test and interpreted this finding? I'm just curious because eggs are one of my main protein sources.
