Husband’s gastro symptoms: Could it be cancer?
Hi all. We are working on an appointment at Mayo for a 2nd opinion. My husband has had gastro symptoms for quite some time and has been doctoring and basically is getting no where. We live 4 hours from Mayo so are working on getting seen there.
Basically for 2 years he's had abdominal pain. He's had chronic heartburn for about 5 years. The abdominal pain has moved to his left side abdomen and lower abdomen. They did a CT scan in November after he had black stools and severe pain. Said it was clear. His pain is constant but not sharp. They've treated with antibiotics and a medication for an "inflamed colon". He also has severe, drenching night sweats. They have been ongoing for about 6 months but now consistently every night. Bloating after eating. Pain after drinking alcohol as well. Rash that comes and goes on his left abdomen. Sometimes right side too. And just generally not feeling well. Anyone have thoughts on his symptoms and relation to the pancreas? Thank you!

Has he had his CA19-9 marker checked out?
No. I asked if they've checked any cancer markers and they said no.
Do you want to talk in the phone? Easier that way..I can call you if it’s convenient for you
Welcome @angie1969, I'm glad to hear that you are working on getting a second opinion at Mayo Clinic. Let me know if you have questions about that.
If I've read your message correctly, your husband does not have a diagnosis yet. I noticed that you chose to post your message in the pancreatic cancer group. Has a doctor suggested that they suspect pancreatic cancer? Or is that your fear at the moment?
His doctors have not suggested pancreatic cancer. At the moment that is my fear. I feel like he has some type of cancer hiding in his body and from what I've read about pancreatic cancer it can be hard to find. He had a colonoscopy 3 years ago and they don't think its his colon. He does have ulcers in his esophagus and stomach.......I guess i'm just asking if anyone who's had pancreatic cancer had these symptoms. Maybe i should post in the general cancer board.
Angie, any update on your husband’s condition? Has further diagnostic testing revealed the potential underlying issue to his symptoms?
If he has ulcers he needs to be on a low acid diet! No Booze or soda, no spicy foods. No Ibuprofen or aspirin.
