Has anyone had experience with medical laser therapy for neuroplastic pain?

Hi @rebsue, you will see that I moved your post to a discussion about laser therapy so you could connect with other members with similar issues. Have you been diagnosed with neuroplastic pain? Can you share with others what that is?

I had a vertibular artery tear one year ago, which resulted in a stroke to my brainstem. While I continue to not feel heat or pain on my entire left side, I have recovered swallowing and midline balance. But, about six months ago, lots of burning and aching pain, primarily on my left side, came on and has intensified. Various neurologists, and my physiatrist have said this is likely my nerves forming new neural pathways and the brain is over-active in these signals. They call it either neuroplastic pain or central pain syndrome. I have tried many things...the latest is recommendation by physiatrist and physical therapist that I give laser therapy a try. I've only had the first treatment in a program that will take 3 weeks, and my burning is even worse. They told me that it would trigger an anti-inflammatory response after treatment before my body kicks in with its own healing. Not sure I can stand this for three weeks, and was hoping someone had experience to share. Thank you!

I am going to a consultation meeting with a doctor this Wednesday to talk about MLS laser therapy. I have degenerative disc disease in my neck which has become at times painful and stiff. My othropedic doctor wanted me to go to a pain management doctor to perhaps get injections but l really don't want to go this route. To be honest the thought of getting a needle with medicine in my neck scares me. I've done dry needling which did help some. Has anyone tried MLS laser therapy and did it help. It's not covered by any insurance but you can't put a price on getting relief.

That's exactly what I'm trying to find as well.
They have it at this podiatrist in PA.
