After having a MVD operation for TN I am in worse pain. I have been to many specialist and now I have Trigeminal neuropathy probably because the Trigeminal nerve was damaged. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue

I had two MVDs and gamma knife for TN with relief only for a few months each time and getting worse with each relapse
Having tolerable pain now with a pain pump hoping it lasts since I had a dose increase already but since I also have rheumatoid arthritis with other neuropathies I am ok for now
Good luck to you!
I am in Houston TX and my neurologist is at Baylor college of medicine

@earringsbylulu11, I'm sorry to hear that the Microvascular decompression (MVD) surgery to relieve abnormal compression of a cranial nerve causing trigeminal neuralgia didn't relieve the pain. What have your doctors suggested as the next step?

Yes I posted my experience several times about two failed NVDS and gamma knife
Check for pain pumps with your doctors

I was worse from the very moment I woke up in recovery. I had terrible eye pain and the tics I had before were like hemifacial spasms. Now the skin has sunken over my craniotomy site and is very painful. I have chronic terrible headaches that feel like brain freeze.

Same experience. I am 3 months post MVD and hints of pain started about 3 weeks ago. Last night, and for the second time in a week, I was jolted awake by severe episodes. Surgeon says last Friday, “sorry it didn’t work for you”. I’ve been referred for Cyber Knife. I was hoping surgeon would at least do an MRI to look for a cause, but rather I was punted. Neurologist yesterday referred me to Pain Management. I feel abandoned.
