Small intestine bacterial overgrowth

Posted by momochan @momochan, Apr 6, 2016

Hi, I have been suffering from small intestine bacterial overgrowth since last Jan. Have gone through a few courses of antibiotics, but whenever it finished, it came back and the stool got loose. I really am desperate, could anyone have suggestion? .

XIFAXAN is the best. I have to take it with an antibiotic I have a gastric bypass. The XIFAXAN bypasses the unused intestine as it travels through you system. Whatever that misses, the antibiotic cures. Thank goodness it work.
I've had multiple intestinal surgeries and resections including removal of gallbladder, ileocecal valve, appendix and valve connecting stomp know to small bowel. Symptoms of SIBO were herendous including explosive diarea, horrid odor and gas 😱😱😱.

SIBO seems to cause a host of digestive problems including Hiatal Hernias. I would look into that as being a cause. Also you may want to have your gallbladder evaluated by a Functional Medicine Doctor. SIBO tends to disrupt the pancreas and gallbladder enyzmes. Xifaxan didn't work for our daughter and so now we are seeing a SIBO knowledgable Functional Medicine Doctor via Skype.

My name is Ella, I am here for support and information. My husband passed away June 1, 2019. He had crohn's disease that turned into small Bowel Cancer. We were not educated enough to keep my late husband out of danger. We were caregivers to each other and other family members. My husband would put himself last when in fact his health was bad. I will never understand how he did it, because his health really was bad. He suffered from two illnesses crohn's disease and later, Small Bowel Cancer. I have become a advocate for both crohn's disease and small Bowel Cancer.

Thank you, if you are able Please advocate for Small Bowel Cancer. It's a Cancer that's not talked about. It's rare and in my reading olocogist don't seem to know how to treat Small Bowel Cancer. They treat it as Colon Cancer. Thank you for your kind words. Thanks

If you will call your local supplement store, ask them if they have any booklets by Brenda Watson, CNC. She was the first quite a few years ago to formulate a good probiotic, bavk before probiotics were available on store shelves. She is excellent at treating SIBO! I would see if she’s on YouTube also. .

I am finally enjoying a reprieve from SIBO. It has only been 3 weeks but it is WONDERFUL!!! We will see how long it lasts. I finished my third round of antibiotics March 20th. My GI said to stop taking the Align because the good bacteria has been replaced. I am still taking it. When I am not experiencing SIBO I have IBS-C. So now I take a Colace every other day. And it is working for now. Fingers crossed! We just got back from a 5 day vacation and I didn't have 1 accident!!! No need for the extra underwear, cottenelles, baggies and tissues in my purse!!!
