Continued Post-Nasal Drip and Constant Mucus in Throat

Posted by adominic @adominic, Mar 22, 2022

I was sick the last week or January/first week of February. Home Test-negative, rapid PCR-negative. All COVID symptoms and known prolonged exposure to infected individuals make me believe it was COVID. Since then, I have had a tremendously hard time dealing with post-nasal drip and mucus collecting in my throat. It is clear, sticky and almost impossible to remove from throat by coughing or clearing my throat. Flonase does nothing, allergy pills do nothing. Had anyone else had an issue like this post COVID? How long did it last? What did you do to cope? Small problem in comparison to others that post here, I realize.

I have always used Nu Science Nu Science Cellfood, 1 oz [available at Walmart or Amazon and many other websites. I usually use an echinacea and goldenseal tincture as a compliment.
In 1/4 glass of water put a dropperful of tincture and 2 drops of Cellfood, mix well. Swish in your mouth for one minute then swallow do this 2x day. Follow with 8 oz water and 6 drops of cellfood.
I find that this has taken care of both cold symptoms and sinus problems. It usually only takes 2 days to resolve.

I had problematic post-nasal drip with mucus collecting in my throat & my COVID-19 tests were negative too. The only thing that worked for me was regular nasal rinses plus gargling with warm salt water. I took me a year to get up the courage to do nasal rinsing. I did it out of desperation and lo and behold it worked. Once I became proficient at it, it was no big deal after all.

A sibling recommended adding lemon juice to the daily water I drunk. A dental specialist had recommended adding lemon juice to her following a dental procedure, to cut down bacteria. I followed this advice too. This sibling uses a infrared sauna mounted in her closet to keep her sinus passages open. I have heard these should not be used with cardiac issues however.

I’ve tried nasal rinses. It tends to plug my ears. I used the saline spray in a can. Works for a bit then back to yuck again. Did your issue ever go away?

Could it be GERD? I am dealing with that myself. Constantly clearing my throat, the feeling of mucus in my throat and a lump. Ugh

Welcome @vinfantino, I did see another discussion where members shared symptoms similar to what you describe.

I had the same thing after Covid, which was mild. Seems like 6 weeks of hacking, the only thing that gave me any relief was coughing and huge caughs that usually ended in gagging. I just drank water and used a Mucinex product, but nothing really seemed to help. It's just very slow to get rid of. Good luck.

or sinu-rinse while in shower

@susie333 That's what I do too! In the shower. I thought I'd invented it myself after so many post-Covid nasal and phlegm issues. You gotta' hork that stuff up to rid your body of it. I was never very good at that, but right now, I have to DO it. I've noticed a big improvement since starting only four days ago.

In answer to your question I feel that I am managing my sinus condition well with only occasional need for nasal rinses at this time. At this point if I wanted to end nasal rinses I'd have to part with most of my household belongings & live in a sterile field!

Did you use mucinex the whole time. I used it for a week and my NP said to stop. I was thinking of taking it again for a couple weeks at least
