Having motility issues, may be gastroparesis: Any thoughts?

Posted by eileenb1022 @eileenb1022, Feb 19, 2022

hello, i really need some feedback. i have been sick for about 7-8 months and although i had my gallbladder out four weeks ago i am still sick. presurgery two different surgeons said i had more going on than just my gallbladder. i am going to see a motility doctor here in NH but im scared he willbe like most doctors and not take me seriously. i lose about a pound every day. this morning i woke up in such pain. i can barely eat which explains the one pound loss a day. i did have a stomach emptying. several months ago. this nurse practioner ordered it. the same nurse practioner who said there was nothing wrong with my gallbladder. anyway i think the test is invalid. first i never knew you were suppose to have eggs and toast. all i had was half a tuna sandwich. i saw and they told me it was normal and i just didnt empty on hour two of a four hour test. this GI wanted to put me on a antidepressent. i said no. only good thing he did was refer me to a motility doctor. i woke up in pain this morning and i dont know what to do or think. please help me.

Well, I don't know where you live. You can google a homeopath doctor in your city. The treatment has no side effect and it stimulate your body to naturally heal itself. Homeopathy is a medical system based on the belief that the body can cure itself. Those who practice it use tiny amounts of natural substances, like plants and minerals. They believe these stimulate the healing process. It was developed in the late 1700s in Germany.

Thanks for chiming in. I don’t have Gastroparesis. Eileen does. I passed my stomach emptying test fine. My severe constipation is because of no colon motility. I can’t move my bowels without meds. I was scheduled in Boston for total colectomy but canceled, rescheduled and canceled again. I just feel doctors have missed something and don’t look at the whole picture just my large colon. I’ve learned a lot going to all naturopathic doctors but I’m not any better. It is very disappointing and I’m back to a newer motility Gastro doc this month. I have some testing suggestions but it’s never easy convincing them. Since I have been on Mayo blog for a while now it just amazes me how many suffer from what you and Eileen have and also what I have. I do think someone at some point will have some idea and I’ll try it and it will help. Blessings, Joanne

@Joanne I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I have a feeling that the Bentyl I took for years may have caused mine but not sure. Could have been the diabetes. Now Bentyl doesn't work for me. First time I took it for stomach pain I thought I had gone to heaven. I was positively euphoric. It felt so good to not hurt. Have either of you tried Bentyl? Judy

My symptoms sound much like I’m reading from these other posts. For years I experienced much pain and other GI complaints. Much to my surprise I was diagnosed at MGH with pancreatic insufficiency and require prescription enzymes with every meal so that food can be broken down, digested and then able to move my GI tract. It’s been a couple of months using enzymes and I’m starting to gain some weight and am feeling better. Good luck to you all
