I've also had the experience of having the wrong lobe called out, lol. It is confusing. I use MGH in Boston and they don't want me using any non-affiliated hospitals for my scans. Not all scanning machines are created equal.
Are there different types of CT scan machines?
There are several different types of ct machines depending on the number of slices. Multi-slice scanners come in 4, 6, 8, 16, 32, 40, and 64 slice configurations. Additional slices enhance diagnostic capabilities and broaden the range of applications, especially if the facility will be performing cardiac studies.
I would wait until you hear from your Drs. to pass any judgments. So far I think that the recommendations are accurate in protocols, at least.
I'll be looking forward to hearing back what they say.
