Welcome @bobchance1, I found a couple of references that might be helpful until others with some experience can share it with you.

"How long does tinnitus last after loud noise?
Occasional exposure to loud noise can bring about temporary tinnitus. Ringing that's accompanied by a muffled sound may also indicate noise-induced hearing loss. These symptoms often go away within 16 to 48 hours. In extreme cases, it may take a week or two." --- Ears Ringing After Concert: 3 Ways to Stop It - Healthline: https://www.healthline.com/health/ears-ringing-after-concert

"A one-time exposure to extreme loud sound or listening to loud sounds for a long time can cause hearing loss. Loud noise can damage cells and membranes in the cochlea. Listening to loud noise for a long time can overwork hair cells in the ear, which can cause these cells to die." --- How Does Loud Noise Cause Hearing Loss? | NCEH | CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/nceh/hearing_loss/how_does_loud_noise_cause_hearing_loss.html

Does your ENT think it might be permanent damage vs temporary?

Thank You John! The ENT didnt say if it was permanent but the noise accident occured in March of 2021 and hasen't gotten better so i assume it is permanent. The hearing loss is high frequency, i.e. at 4k hz and above to 70 db. Hearing aids help a little with the hearing loss but im thinking i need more powerfull hearing aids or a custom fitted ear mold to keep the sounds in the ear canal.
