Long Haul Covid Digestive Issues

Posted by mikeaz @mikeaz, Feb 17, 2022

Does anyone else have difficulty with eating? I am nauseous most of the time, I have no appetite and feel like I force myself to eat. I am almost 6 months after first getting COVID and it’s not getting any better.

Yes, you are not alone. GI sensitivity started a couple of weeks after covid onset that progressed from reflux to vomiting when I would try to eat. I kept an emesis bag on me and carried on with my day while getting sick every time I ate (still keep one in the car). Protein has been the biggest problem so I supplemented my diet with Orgain shakes. 5 months after Covid, the symptoms eased up but I still get nauseated a lot. The meds that helped with symptoms were initially 40mg Prilosec daily, Peptobismol, PepcidAC and Zofran. Now it’s much better and some things that help are Peptobismol chews, Pepto Naturals with only ginger and chamomile, peppermint and wafting isopropyl alcohol squares under the nose as you breath in. I haven’t heard of any way to cure it quickly; doctors have said that it takes time and it’s not uncommon after a virus to have GI sensitivity. Wish I had a better answer.
