I guess what I struggle with is how we are suppose to get people to understand. I mean, I feel like we can't really protest without people still thinking "well their crazy" or something like that, you know? I feel there is so much pressure on us to NOT make a mistake while we're trying to change things because if we do, well that just fuels their stigma.

You are very insightful! They can call us crazy and problematic but that's their ignorance and biases talking. Google all the famous human beings whom have made great contributions to our world who also lived with challenges.
Regardless, of how they try to label us we are intelligent, creative, hard workers, compassionate, skilled, articulate, empathetic and overall good human beings.
Although, I have been targeted for a long time, I am not the crazy one. The crazy one's are the one's that disobey law's put into place so what others and I have endured does not happen. Sadly, the maltreatment continues but we have to stand tall my dear even when we want to crawl under a rock.
I think that we all deserve kindness and equality even if we have to fight for it. No action equals permission to continue hurting innocent people.
Hugs,
Rox

That is true. When I become a doctor I want to create a good hospital for kids with mental illnesses and specialize in ED's because mental health treatment is so well . . prison-like. Kids shouldn't have to feel like they did something wrong to end up the way they did and that's exactly what so many places are doing. They dont let you go outside, your constantly punished, and the food is terrible. I might only be 14 but I am determined to do that. I have already started thinking about the blueprint for my hospital.
You are right, we are completely normal. We just got to convince people of that.
Claire 🙂

My dear Claire,
we are more normal than the one's that think we are not. We are in treatment but those that stigmatize others are not but should be.
You sound like an adult not a 14 year old. You'll be a great doctor!

Oh thank you! I am really glad I found this MayoClinic community because everyone here is so accepting and kind.

We are glad that you joined us as well sweetie ...

2 smart 2b 14. ???

A very knowledgeable, caring 14 year old who is sharing and helping us and others through her own life's experiences, and I am sure will follow her dreams and become a wonderful doctor Piglit

Which fiction book did you read that states that 14 year olds can't be articulate, bright and cannot offer sound advice? Throw it away because our youth, especially well rounded youth, can teach adults a wealth of important and pertinent information about healthy living.

I am 14.

thank you so much
