Prolia treatment for osteoporosis: What is your experience?
I received the results from my bone test and they have recommended I start Prolia. I have read the side effects and I am concerned. Has anyone use this drug and if so what side effects have you experienced. Thank you

I quit and didn't substitute another drug. Never knew this.. Doctor never told me. Got sick on prolia. My inc!inaction was not to get started but I felt pushed to do it. My own fault for not stepping back!
@tarmansbks - same here! Got my first shot of Prolia on January 6, 2021 and refused any more after that, but my doctor did not put me on any substitute either.
Were you sick from the shot? I am not worrying about being on something else. I have developed a c'est la vie attitude about the matter.
@tarmansbks - I have fibromyalgia so I am used to body pain, but after that shot I have been in more pain than I ever have been in previous years! Still get joint pain and muscle spasms - especially in my left thigh and hip (injection site was my left arm, though, and felt no pain at the.time when I got the injection).
Dumb question from me. Do you think fibromyalgia makes muscles cramps and spasms. The get them at night but not all the time. I couldn't handle gabapentin and ropinirole so I just try to ignore them. I have left side weakness from infant polio.and attribute spasms to muscle fatigue. Emg test didn't show any life threatening condition.
Hi,
I quite Prolia after 2 shots - was in leg pain constantly and the pain was worse when I laid down. I also lost my hair about 1 1/2" all around my face and not much has returned even 1 1/2 years later. I had been on 2 prior drugs but will never take another. Remember, medicine is big business! Kaye
What side effects did you have with Reclast?
I have been on Prolia for 10 years. I do not remember having any side effects with Reclast. The main issue wss that my bine density did not increas in Rdast.
Thankyou.
I was diagnosed with PMR last September. I was put on prednisone, which is the usual treatment. I've had osteopenia (at one time diagnosed as osteoporosis, so I guess I've actually improved) for years. I've taken Evista, Actonel, and Fosamax over many (too many) years. The doctors were careless and allowed me to continue too long. I took myself off the medication. Now that I'm on prednisone, both my primary doctor and my rheumatologist are pushing me to go on Prolia. THey both say I'm at high risk for a fracture. The preceding conversation here does NOTHING to encourage me to go on it. I would probably never get off of it, as I've already been on so many medications over the years. I'm worried about getting an injection that lasts 6 months, and what if I have side affects? I'm having enough issues dealing with the PMR. I have an appointment with a different rheumatologist but not until April. I want to hear what she thinks. Any other ideas from those of you who have gone before??
