Tarsal Tunnel: implanted stimulation device or surgery? Any luck
Hi, my Tarsal Tunnel syndrome is going on 8 years now, and I've thrown various meds at it, seen orthopedists, acupuncturist, neurologists, Physical Therapists; you name it. It's like I have a timer on my right ankle--walk more than a certain amount, usually over a mile, it starts hurting, and if I continue walking, the pain moves up towards my calf. RFA worked for a while, but no longer. Neurologist suggested StimWave but the horror stories are terrifying. Any personal experiences with similar condition?

Hi, Anyone else had a stimulation device implanted for chronic ankle pain? My ankle issue is entering its 8th year and I’ve tried GPs, orthopedists, PTs, podiatrists, cortisone injections, RF nerve ablations, acupuncture, and various medications. The RFA has stopped working after 4-5 injections. I don't think surgery is an option, but those horror stories about these stimulation devices are terrifying.
Welcome @egrolman, I've moved your 2 messages into one discussion that appears in both the Chronic Pain group and the Bones, Joints & Muscles group simultaneously. That way you only have to follow one discussion of responses to your questions about treatment for tarsal tunnel syndrome. I'd like to bring @jeanniem @kp6350 @bkelley5 @summertime4 and others into this discussion.

I have been diagnosed with tarsal tunnel syndrome in my right ankle and after medication, acupuncture, radio frequency ablation, and just about everything else, I am now considering surgery for this issue because it severely affects the amount of walking I do. Please share your experiences positive or negative with this surgery. I’m very interested in how much improvement was gained and also recovery time.
Hi, I've been diagnosed w tarsal tunnel syndrome in my right ankle. Have been trying for 8 years to find a solution that will let me walk my usual 3.5 miles every day but having no luck with meds, PT, acupuncture, Radio frequency ablations, etc. Finally someone mentioned surgery but I'm very leery of this. Any personal stories to share in regards success and length of recovery?
