Heel pain after COVID-19 vaccine

My foot and ankle pain just started four days ago and after the second night it happened, it got MUCH better during the day. But yesterday it barely improved at all during the day. I was able to discard the crutches by late in the day, but I was moving very slowly. Now the pain is pretty much constant. I definitely need crutches this morning. I'me researching other maladies and have already discarded gout as a possibility because it's not really joint pain in my foot — it's the soft tissue below my inside ankle bone radiating down into my foot.

Actually you just described my pain. Also inside ankle tissue along bone is very tender. When I push on it..it hurts as if it is bruised .

I purchase a foot massage to help with the pain. I find that has been very helpful.

i had that as well, get a velcro ankle brace and wear it day and night, it helps

I wanted to share my experience as well. After the Pfizer vaccine first dose, I felt excruciating foot pain in the entire sole of my foot. For a week, it was painful to walk, then it started subsiding over the next two weeks. Second Pfizer shot and foot pain began again and comes in waves. This has continued since October. I had no prior foot or lower extremity issues. I reported my case through VAERS. I’m 49, in otherwise good health, no regular medications. No one seems to have recommendations beyond massage which temporarily relieves or healthy eating/ arch support. I’m wondering if the RNA based changes (in certain vaccines )to how proteins are reacting has a long term effect and if there is any recommendation for an assessment of kidney/liver/heart function or if indeed some clotting issues occur after covid, maybe this is a similar reaction after vaccine. Maybe my circulation is being affected since the problem worsens after sitting still or sleeping without movement? Is there any type of scan or test that could check all systems for clotting or compromise of circulation? Very frustrated.

Your thought process makes sense to me - a hematologist would be able to recommend tests such as a complete blood count, serum calcium, creatinine, Free Light Chains, vitamin D levels, B levels, immunofixation, and 24 hour urine protein electrophoresis- etc that may help the evaluation for further testing focus. An internal med or holistic doctor may also give you a good approach for your suspicions.

Yes! Exact same pain as you described. I thought it was plantar fasciitis too, but I’m on here researching if anyone else is having this. I got one shot of Pfizer 5 months ago. My heart rate went up to 120 beats per minute so I don’t want another.

The pain in my feet has not subsided. I’m trying to stretch and rest in my days off and I soak them Epsom salt etc. I wondered if the pain was because my muscles in my legs were tight and maybe pulling on something in my foot, like my tendons were shortening??

I’m starting to suspect the Pfizer vaccine causes something like rigor Mortis.. where muscles get stiff?? That’s what it feels like when I’m walking. I can’t even take a short walk without having to put my feet up for like 12 hours.

I am female, 63, 5’7”, 140 lbs and have never had heel pain before. I exercise regularly and have my whole life, and have not changed my routine during the pandemic. Within weeks after the first Covid Vaccine, I developed a bruised feeling in my heels. I have stretched, massaged, tried different shoes, and friend Aleve for the pain. It helps, but if I must stand for long periods of time the pain increases. I have no idea if it’s related to the vaccine, but it is suspicious that it occurred after I took the vaccine.

Ouch. Foot pain hurts, especially heel pain. I know bc I have foot and heel pain.

I am fully vaccinated and have flat feet. I wear corrective orthotics in stable shoes so my feet, back, and heels don’t hurt and to prevent migraines.

When my heel pain appeared recently, I did some detective work. Because I have chronic back pain, I sit and sleep in a zero gravity chair. I noticed heel pain when my heel rests on the bottom bar of the chair. My pain worsens when I use my feet to push the chair back. The pain stopped when I padded the bottom bar of the chair. To be truthful, at the same time I kind of slacked off on wearing my orthotics. My bad.
