What could be going on?

Hi @jessrunner03 Oh golly you sound so miserable. Mono can leave you drained for months. However mononucleosis is actually caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. Yup, another pesky virus.
Most often, people recover from the initial infection of the EBV. However some people can have symptoms lasting for sometime. The virus never leaves the body but goes dormant and seldom makes an appearance again unless the body’s immune system is weakened, then it can re-awaken.

You may have a continued live viral reaction going on or there is also Chronic Epstein Barr Virus in which people have a more severe and prolonged reaction to the disease. Another member of Connect, @mariabrat has been dealing with the chronic EBV as well. I’m not say this is what’s happening to you but in my opinion, it would be a good idea to visit your Primary care physician to have a follow up exam. They can run some more blood tests to check your overall health and see what you’re dealing with.

Have you returned to your doctor after the initial diagnosis?

Yes she said my blood work looked good and that my body was fighting the infection which is good but still not feeling right. We are going to see a neurologist next and I’m on a low dose antidepressant to see if that helps at all. Just hope this goes away
