My psychiatrist is having me take Effexor and Cymbalta together.

Should I be doing this? It is making me extremely tired and I am having memory issues. Can someone recommend a better remedy for depression and anxiety?

Have you researched these two drugs? I suggest you do a google search. Doctors are not reliable when telling us the side effects of medications. You can also check what others say about these drugs here on Connect. Once you’re armed with some good info you may want to revisit these two drugs taken in combination with your doctor.

Hello @njb124 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You have posted your concern about using both Effexor and Cymbalta and you mention your symptoms of fatigue and memory problems.

Had you been taking either one of these meds prior to taking them together? Also, you do not mention the dosage of each med. Do you take them once a day or more often? These are all important considerations.

There is often an adjustment time when meds of this nature will make you have a groggy feeling as well as some brain fog. If you are taking a high dose of either one, you might talk with your doctor to see if you can lower one or both of the doses. This might help.

Have you talked with your prescribing doctor yet?
