Hello, I had a very bad night after sex...legs throbbing, cramps etc..I was wondering if sex was to blame. I have not heard others report this .

@windsorchris, Sorry to hear you had a very bad night on New Year's Eve. I did a quick search of Connect and couldn't find anyone mentioning the topic but hopefully others who have had a similar experience can reply to your question. I did find some information on the topic but I'm not sure it applies in this case but hopefully it's a start and may help answer your quetion.

"Pain during or after sex is quite common in women and can also occur in men. ... Pudendal nerve pain (pudendal neuralgia) if the pain is worse when sitting ..." --- https://www.whria.com.au/for-patients/pelvic-pain/painful-sex/

Do you mean after having sex, or as a result of an orgasm? I had the latter a few times, which is kind of off-putting. Can't have actual sex right now, because it's too painful, with allodynia of the skin, neuropathic & banding pain and all. I hope it will change for the better, as it's not good for my marriage.

Is male sexual performance often negatively affected by neuropathy?

For me...included during sex when I developed severish cramps in my legs and cramps and pains as I slept. i am on Gabapentin, Aleve and a muscle relaxant for a painful lower back which I believe was caused by a 3 day road trip. Since...much better sleeping without significant pain but I am a bit "shy" about our sex life .

Maybe it would be the same with other forms of exercise?

I don't know any statistics but it absolutely can.
In men it can cause ED, loss of desire, inability to get and maintain an erection, ejaculation problems, inability to orgasm. In women, it can diminish lubrication, pleasure, orgasm.
It can also cause numbness and the various painful sensations associated with Neuropathy.
Take care,
Jake

Having neuropathy sucks, but I gotta say for me it increases the sensation to the 10th power Almost to the point where it’s scary I can feel every nerve in my body exploding it’s very strange and exhilarating at the same time and very exhausting. The first time I experienced this, I didn’t know if I was gonna survive it . it kind of made me nervous, but I’m OK with it. Now this thing called neuropathy is a journey of discovering a whole New World of strange and sometimes disturbing things. Every time you turn around, it’s always something new but we’re still here.
