How long does lingering covid last? Is there any help?

Posted by gabbygirlkc09 @gabbygirlkc09, Nov 4, 2021

Hello,
I have Covid Delta Variant for 6 weeks now. I’m at end stage of covid/ covid lingering symptoms: fatigue is the worst, chest tightness, shortness of breath, heart beats quick, chest pain, cough, diarrhea, dizziness from sit to standing or move too quickly, some loss of smell . These are my main symptoms. I’m getting better slowly.
Worried and anxious about why I’m still sick not better yet.
I’m fully vaccinated since Feb’2021. Never had covid prior.

You may need to have bloodwork done before you can use these repurposed medications. 145mg of fenofibrate. 0.6mg of Colchicine 81mg baby aspirin 3 times a day and 50k units of D2. I saw results in 3 days. Have had no more symptoms now for 14 days! My dr had me taking those prescriptions 1 time a day for 15 days.

As always, seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider to check if medications suggested in online forums may be helpful in your specific case.
- Fenofibrate is used to lower "bad" cholesterol and fats (such as LDL, triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood.
- Colchicine is used to prevent or treat gout attacks (flares).
- Low dose aspirin every day may lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.
- Vitamin D (ergocalciferol-D2, cholecalciferol-D3, alfacalcidol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus.

Dee, I'm glad that your doctor found a combination of medications that worked for you. What symptoms did you have? Were they new after COVID or do you also have underlying health conditions, such as heart issues?

@weeds Hello. I've struggled with where to start exercise-wise. I was so worried about walking outside - that I'd go too far and wouldn't be able to get back home. I finally got a trainer for my bike so I could bring it inside. I can't ride very long, but I just try to keep at it.

I've also found that just going my stretches is quite a workout. Do you have a stretching routine?

I do not have a stretching routine, except for Physical therapy 2X a week for surgery in July. That takes it out of me for that day and the next. Then I have PT stretches to do at home in between visits-sometimes I do them, but many times I just don’t have the energy. My exercise lately is walking to the mailbox. Thank-you for your input, though. I am hoping to be able to start walking again a bit at a time, like Sue suggested. It is such a discouraging process.

Leg cramps, shortness of breath, brain fog, fatigue, hot then cold, burning feet, anxiety, heart palpitations insomnia, hands shaking to where I couldn’t write my name, could barely function at work. These all went away after the 3rd day of meds. I lost 32lbs in 2 months. I had no underlying medical conditions. My covid was a moderate case. I did get the mono antibody treatment. Hope this helps.

Hello @leen, I attended the Post Covid program via video (Zoom) after meeting with the doctors at Mayo in Rochester. For me, it was two days of video classes followed by nurse and wellness video visits. I am still working towards finding the right balance, but I am feeling better and am able to do more than I could before.

How long has it been for you? Did you find the clinic helpful? Are you a Mayo patient before hand?

@leen, I got Covid at November 2020. I saw the doctors in person in August 2021 and had the classes is September. I was a Mayo patient before. I had a heart defect repaired in 2009 and have checkups every few years.

The clinic and classes were very helpful. I was able to shovel yesterday. Prior to August I spent a lot of time in bed. If I needed to go out I needed tons of caffeine. Even then I only got a couple of hours.

Wow! That is a long haul for sure. I feel fortunate in many ways but do have continuing things related to having covid. I have only been battling since October 11, 2021. What I have going on no one can say how long. The mental battle is the hardest. 5 days in the hospital gave me a bit of PTSD. I only had nose oxygen.
