Severe pain in upper inner thigh

Posted by Stretch @stress, Dec 7, 2021

I’ve had SFN, i.e. PN in my feet for ~2.5 years, taking Oxycodone and Methadone for severe pain. Yesterday, I had an attack of severe pain in upper, inner thigh with pain in the 9-10 range. In reading, I found this symptom reference to DVT, deep vein thrombosis, which can be fatal due to potential pulmonary embolism. I’m thinking it’s further manifestation of neuropathy. If anyone else has experienced this symptom how did you deal with it? Thanks.

Yes I have had it and also intensity 9/10. Basically I made sure I hadn’t forgotten a dose of pain meds and rode it out til pain went away. I did not get it checked by a Dr.

how long did it take for pain to go away?

If you are correct, strongly suggest you see a doctor.

Part of my journey this year has been dealing with groin pain, inner thigh pain, and low back pain caused by SI joint dysfunction and Pelvic dysfunction. I had SI joint fusion, vaginal wall repair and to help with the bladder leakage I've had for years a bladder sling. I did have an ultra sound to rule out dvt.

I hope all find their answers and solutions. I am feeling much better.

This is a follow up post ~90 days later. Thanks to all who replied. As it turned out, I saw vascular surgeon and got scans of legs - severe blood clots deep AND near surface, called DVT (deep vein thrombosis). The doc started a blood thinning regimen with Equilibris which I will continue for ~ 6-12 months. Both legs were swollen, like Popeye’s and are reducing very slowly. I believe this condition is related to my other neurological malaises (see profile for more info)..

This is just a thought, but I recently had bad sacrum pain that kept me in bed for days.. My doctor, an osteopath, had xrays and and MRI done.. my problem stemmed from 2 things.. a coccyx that I had broken about 55 years ago and had healed off to one side, but what was hurting me was L1, 2,3,4... one had a bulge and another a crack.. I am almost 80 years old now, but feel like I'm about 20 except for when I'm in pain, of course.. I hope you get diagnosed and fixed up again soon.. Blessings on you..

Hmm, I’m glad you posted this. I have had input years ago that my L-3 has a bulge. Not great pain but some discomfort. I’ll inquire about the possible connection. Thanks and regards=)
