Foot fat atrophy and hammer toes
The fat protecting the bones in my feet eroded. Walking with various supports as well as orthotics are of no help.
Furthermore, my hammer toes make matters worse.

I have Hammer Toes and Foot Fat Atrophy. I have bought several prescription orthotics and gotten no relief. It seems once the fat in the feet is eroded there are no alternatives to really help.
I must say that I find the memory foam or gel shoes and orthotics better for my bony, arthritic feet with bone spurs than any prescription orthotic I have tried.
Have you tried the Skechers John recommended yet?
Sue
Sue, thank you.
No, I have not tried Skechers. I am open for any recommendations to make walking comfortable again.

@sueinmn I totally agree and they're much less expensive too!
I will sure check them out! My long, skinny feet need a break. Thanks you!
I love my Zen Toes!
I agree strongly that podiatrists have not been helpful.
I have foot fat atrophy and hammer toes.
I also have a bunch of orthotics that haven't helped.
As you do, I go to a fitness center Monday through Friday and use a recumbent and weights. I don't know if this is warding off worse issues.
I am open for suggestions and willing to go anywhere for help.
I'm dealing with the same issues. What are injectable fillers according to Mayo Clinic? Can they be subscribed by a Dr. in Des Moines,Ia.? So much pain, even with Hoka's! Help. Maria.
I have a collection of orthotics and no relief from pain and discomfort.
I have not heard of injectable fillers.
I welcome suggestions for hammer toes and foot fat atrophy.
I had that and immediately had all the toes operated on to have put pins in them all. It’s wonderful! I saw my mother suffer so much from hammer toes and in the end it took her mobility because she felt constantly off balance….because she was!
I also have Ehlers DAnlos syndrom…EDSh w hypermobility, so I long ago began wearing Fit Flop Shoes ,,,,Amazon….and also their home page. They are so wonderful because they have a wobble board in the heel and that keeps you amazingly so from tipping. It increases your balance and you “imprint’” your weight distribution and corrects the differential from one side of your body to another. For ex my left leg is much longer than my right but as long as I have Fit Flops on , it is totally unnoticeable and extremely comfortable! My other joints do not experience any domino effect of this discrepancy because there is no damage done . Its’ important to get the original soles with the dense footbed that acts as shock absorbers to the bones. My daughter in law got me into them 15 year ago and I have never worn any other type of shoe since……she is a nurse and at her hospital thats all any of them use….the medical clog version…..even the doctors. Doctors at my hospital who operated on me , were gifted a pair by me after the biggest surgeries…..as a thank you. To the one, they said it altered their entire life to the good, as they all had knee or hip or ankle issues with the horrible long standing in surgery. I think they would help you too! Good luck!
