I have just had fasting glucose blood tests. I haven't done a glucose tolerance test or anything. I'm just wondering if it's normal for an average person to spike to 178 at any given point.

I think it depends on when you last ate but I'm not sure and I have no medical training or background. Here's a blood sugar chart that shows for non-diabetics the target range is 72–99 mg/dl before a meal and less than 140 mg/dl 2 hours after a meal. ---- What are the ideal blood glucose levels?: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317536
