Has anyone tried anti-depressant medication for neuropathic pain?

Posted by greenacres @greenacres, Nov 13, 2021

I'm wondering how many people in this community with neuropathic pain have been prescribed some form of an anti-depressant along with or without Gabapentin to help ease the pain and if anyone has found this protocol helpful?

Does Amitriptyline raise your blood pressure or cause irregular heart beat? I'm on a low dose of Lyrica because it cause my heart to beat irregular. I'm in so much pain my doctor has tried everything including LDN. It's encouraging to hear something is working for you. Thanks for sharing!

Amitrip can cause irregular heartbeat but I have been prescribed a low dose of metropolol and that eliminates it.

I take Zoloft for depression, it actually works quite well. I used to take gabapentin but it was playing games with my memory. I had the simulator implanted 3 weeks ago, and it seems to have knocked my pain down about 90 percent. I am still healing right now, but I am very much pleased.

Hi Deb, what type of spinal cord stimulator did you have implanted? re, Boston Scientific, Abbott, Nevro, Stimwave? Where was your pain to warrant a SCS? Thanks , Marty

I have an Abbot my team is great it has only been 3weeks. My Dr said I needed a spinal replacement or I will most likely be crippeld within 6 months. I chose this due to the pain. Good luck

Have you asked your doctor about the status of intradiscal stem cells?
