Frankincense and Myrrh for Neuropathy pain

Posted by hotfooted @hotfooted, Apr 26, 2019

Today I saw the Nutritionist that my doctor sent me to.. As usual, my feet were red and burning. She told me that many Diabetics that she counseled used Frankincense and Myrrh drops mixed with a lotion and they swore by it.. wouldn't be without it. She had some and we tried it on my poor feet right then.. It was absolutely amazing! My feet cooled down immediately and they became their normal white skin again. That was this morning and they are still okay at 5:30 in the evening.. My gosh, maybe I'll be able to sleep better tonight... Have any of you tried this? If so, what has been your experience with it? I'm hoping to hear lots of comments back...

I have been using it. The pharmacist recommended it. I'm not diabetic. My neuropathy came about because of chemotherapy. My oncologist said it should go away. The oncologist nurse said it could take a year or longer. It's been over five months now. My right foot seems to be better, but the left foot has gotten worse. I think, because I had existing nerve damage on the top of that foot; mostly on the top of my big toe area. I'm using just the Frankincense and & Myrrh rubbing oil at night. It does help with the burning feeling.

Hello Chas, for a few months now I have been using a mix of frankincense, myrrh, and castor oil which I use to massage my feet at night. I then put on cotton socks. I also take the recommended PN supplements, and 300 mgs Gabapentin at night. The sharp nerve pains in my feet and legs have reduced, although my feet still tingle, and, feel encased in a metal boot, with things crawling on them. I’ve tried a multitude of topicals and nothing seems to work.

Like you I also have trouble sleeping. I find that taking melatonin and Gabapentin together a couple hours before bedtime generally helps. It’s not good to take melatonin every night, however. If you are able to get medical marijuana, that might work as well. Unfortunately, I can’t use it as it interferes with the immunosuppressive meds I’m on.

Best of wishes for better sleep and warmer feet! Athena

Hi Athena, Its amazing how many treatments there are out there, most of them not working.every site seems to have the answer, but no amazing cure.when I saw Frankincense and Myrrh advertised I said WoW, maybe a cure right out of the Bible, and close to Christmas. we will see, but thanks for answering me and I wish all the luck in the world in your fight for relief. I pray that someday someone will come up with answers for all suffering. wishing you peace. Chas.

I have had PN for about 5 years. t went from keeping awake for awhile to ice cold feeling at night, until i finely went to sleep. it went from bad to worse until I went to a neurologist who put me on Gabapentin, I went from 300 to 900 mg.without any help that I was aware of.I then went to a neurology clinic and had all kinds of tests, and the Dr. there said because I have a pacemaker he could not treat me with the only thing he would use, which was a higher form of the TENS treatment. At this time I'm taking the 900mg gabapentin spread over a six hour span, also 1/2 or sometimes a whole 0.25mg. of xanax. If i am still awake at 2 or 3 oclock ,I'll take a Tylenol. as you can tell, my day is shot. I might add i'm a 88 year old very active male who works every day at something. my feet hurt every day ,but I get by. nighttime is my tough time. I'm going to try the Frankincense and Myrrh oil tonight and will let you know how it works for me. Thanks, Chas

Hello @wideawakechas; I have a CIDP, a different form, but same pain as PN. My Neurologist put me on Vimpat from the beginning as GABA & other meds did not help me. Heavy duty lotion and socks as other mentioned will help with the cold feet symptom. I slowly & mindlessly massage my feet with lotion while watching TV or reading, etc. for a good hour before bed which is helping. My mom developed painful PN @ 80 & found it helpful when 1st waking up, to let her legs hang over side of bed instead of getting up immediately... also helps me.
Last thing: loose bed covers so feet are not restrained. A lot here, but throw some arrows & hopefully you'll find a target. Very best to you!

Welcome to Connect, Charles. You found a great place to meet folks like you who actually listen, hear and understand because they're in similar situations. I have found true healing among these online messages. And, I really have and am developing real long-distance, no-face friendships that I cherish. You can share openly, safely, and hopefully, you'll see a lot of internal, emotional healing while learning new ways to heal the body from those who're doing it!

I use Frankincense and Myhrr daily on my arthritic and very dry hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders. I also add in there other places I want to make feel better... I almost nightly massage it into my feet and legs.. I'm very pleased to find this healing balm.

I buy The Three Wise Men from Walmart, frankincense, myrrh, and coconut oil balm that arrived as a liquid and then inside became a balm. I've been so surprised and excited to find some things that really help, give me some relief from pains and issues I've experienced for years. And, get off the heavy meds that have so many negative side effects for me. I was taking Lyrica, which helped a lot, for many years; gabapentin the same, oxycodone, and on and on. I only take Robaxin muscle relaxant now, for pain. and cramping. I also take Requip and Vitron Iron w/C-over the counter, for restless leg syndrome. They also help with all the issues re my legs/feet.

Requip is a wonder drug for me. It helps me daily with lifting my feet more easily, making my legs feel lighter, no longer 1000lbs each! I don't drag my feet anymore when I'm tired. It affects the absorption and use of dopamine in the brain if I understand correctly. which also improves my outlook, This drug and Cymbalta have both helped me

Vitron-C is iron plus C, OTC, prescribed by my sleep doctor to help lessen RLS and raise my iron level as I was for many years low in ferrous. It's gradually rising, very gradually, still too low but so much better and it helped greatly the RLS, and overall health. and energy.

I consider John Bishop as my neuropathy guru, @johnbishop. He's been dealing with these things for long years and has found by trial and error and lots of research what helps his situations. He's a great guy and if you contact him he'll help you.

I do hope some of what I've said will be helpful for you, Charles. It's important for us to give and care....I hope you feel that caring coming through these messages.
Blessings on your journey. Elizabeth

Oh, I must add another angel...Chris Trout, @artscaping. Chris is my medical marijuana guru and has lots of excellent, helpful information about that source of pain and anxiety relief. I use MM daily, a 1:1, CBD:THC tincture at night about an hour before sleep. It is a miracle for me. Relieves anxiety, lessens pain and I sleep like a baby, almost, an old baby! It's a good tool to add to your toolbox. Note: I've had a very bad rash, thought it was shingles but not, painful, blisters, sores, bright red, etc.....I couldn't reach my doctor for help so researched and used medical marijuana 1:1, CBD:THC lotion on the rash. It stopped the pain and all discomfort within seconds. It's well now, healed by using this lotion, only! ess

Good evening @retired123. I can say yes to your question. I took Benedryl for neuropathic itch. Although it didn't come on like gangbusters for the rather traumatic itching, it did help me rest, aka take naps and sleep.

What neuropathy symptoms do you need help with right now?

Chris

Good evening ~ For me the worst is tight/stiff ankles. My other garden variety symptoms I could deal with if my feet would allow me to walk w/o assistance and drive. I'm not liking the pregabalin side effects so I'm reducing the dosage and am going to try supplementing with Benadryl. I am told I am one of the fortunate ones w/o pain. It doesn't feel fortunate to be basically housebound and have all my activities come to a near standstill. So I'm trying to find what others are doing to help with their symptoms. I find light compression helps with "itching". But the ankles!!

I take Benadryl at night as it does help me sleep, along with Gabapentin. I take 10 mL of children’s liquid, when my itching is most intense as it’s fast acting and I’m a lightweight when it comes to meds.

@artscaping, @retired123, @athenalee, and all...Benadryl is a wonder drug for me also, in most cases, but I stopped taking it at night every night when I realized it had lingering fuzziness and there was some reason it's not good to do regularly. Don't remember what now... I will take it in capsules, and use the cream. The cream doesn't help my feet and ankles like the MM lotion and oral Benadryl. Benadryl capsules are like magic for me with crazy reactions to drugs or bites or PN itching. but, that's not my major issue with my feet so I only use it occasionally, as needed.

For sleep, I do better with the MM tincture and 1-2 melatonin tablets. And, massaging the feet/legs with balm or lotion.

I'm so pleased we've helped each other like this to find different ways to help our variety of PN and other problems. If I didn't have you, my Connect friends, sharing such great information and helping me through, I'd be in a very different place with all my physical issues. I send blessings every day to all of you who have helped me get to such a better place in my aging.

Thanks to you all! ess.
