When will ECT have an effect on the “voices” in my head?
I’ve been diagnosis’s with bipolar and schizoaffective disorder. Is there a period that the ECT will have an effect on the “voices” in my head. I had ECTs4 at Mayo Clinic.

You mention that you've had 4 treatments so far. According to this article from Mayo Clinic (https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/electroconvulsive-therapy/about/pac-20393894)
"In the United States, ECT treatments are generally given two to three times weekly for three to four weeks — for a total of six to 12 treatments. Some doctors use a newer technique called right unilateral ultrabrief pulse electroconvulsive therapy that's done daily on weekdays. The number and type of treatments you'll need depend on the severity of your symptoms and how rapidly they improve."
It seems like you're still hearing voices. Have you noticed any improvements with the 4 treatments? Are there plans to have more treatments?
There is some improvement with my Abilify injection. At this time no future appointments. But if an appointment was needed who would I reach out to at Mayo.
To prevent memories loss treatment was on one side of my brain.
Initial memory loss effected only immediate period after the ECT.
Unfortunately down time is increasing depression and appetite. Depression is depending.
Thinking additional ECT is necessary.
Would like to return to Mayo for additional treatment. Which Dr. would be best to contact in their department.
In the meantime is there a group or community in the Chicago area or western suburbs that could be joined for some sort of socialization. No socialization is a big cause of the deepening depression. There is a huge sigma against mental illness.
