Severe Constipation
I have had severe constipation for a long time. I drink lots of water and have had almost every test possible done and tried many prescription medications. These medications work for a little bit then stop. I currently take 3 docusate in morning and at night I will take 2 senna/docusate. I still dont have a daily BM. So i get bloated crampy and back pain from this.
I was told I could go to the Mayo Clinic as they may have ideas for me because they are out of options for me here.
Anyone else suffer from this?

❤️❤️❤️❤️thanks, I’m trying one day at a time. Someone on this site will come up with something 👍
HI, I might be oversimplifying your issue, but I suffer from chronic constipation and have so for 30+ years. During the height of the pandemic, I became afraid to leave my house and had to choose foods that I could eat with no preparation. I got really hooked on this popcorn called "Pipcorn" , which is the name of the company. I was eating a bag a day. (A little over 500 calories worth). All of a sudden, I noticed I was having almost daily bowel movements; a first for me in a very long time. Of course you need to drink lots of fluids, but I was so stunned by this new found "treatment" that I kept eating it. Recently, I found I have Chronic kidney disease and have chosen to limit my salt intake, so, no popcorn. I am back to constipated and when I do go, (like if I have coffee) , it's very loose. The popcorn seemed to produce a "normal" BM. I don't know, just an observation. Maybe not relevant, but it felt like a small miracle for me.
@mothermary
I pray that you will make the right decision for you. I know it is tough facing such critical questions.
Want to ask if you had tried Lactulose for your constipation? It is a Rx med that is given as a treatment for long standing liver disease. And I have seen it mentioned here, briefly as being prescribed for constipation.
Prayers for you. Let us know how things progress.
Now, Joanne, you know we talked about the NG tube. Think positive!! We’re all rooting for you! Becky
Have you ever tried Mag07, by a company that was called Aerobic life, now changed to NB Pure, same formula...have used for years. It is oxygenated and really works...they have to call it a colon cleanse, but most use it nightly two hours after your last meal. I require two capsules, I would never take 5. It is GNC's top selling item. I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe...been on it for years, its been around for years...you could consider it pricy 180 capsules for around 38 bucks...but worth every penny. It moves things well!!! Oxypowder is similar. This is large molecule magnesium that can not entercyour bloodstream...goes straight for the colon...and out...I have turned many doctors and friends onto it. They have never advertised..but I would not be ever without it. It is the oxygenated way its made, just do not buy on amazon...I don't trust that. It really works!!! Justvdo not take too much, ya gotta find your own dose.
Additional info to my post. You will feel a normal urge to go to the bathroom, it does not cause any cramping at all, and you sleep very well...this is in regards to my previous post about Mag07.
I sure hope this helps ...I do not consider myself constipated anymore using this product.
I’m just wondering if you could possibly post a picture of the Mag07. I saw many different types online. I’m not sure if this is against the rules so please forgive me if it is. Thank you.
Joanne, I always felt that if I’m not comfortable with the idea of any major surgery I will hold off. Unless, I would be in immediate danger if I don’t.
You have time to gather more information. However, stay in touch with your doctor.
thank you, I’m in constant contact with my PCP. I’m going into month 17. I know my body well but I do get nervous something could happen because I have to think stool sitting in my colon must stretch it to a degree and could have more bacteria than normal in it. It’s a risk, one I’m willing to take right now. My physical therapist can tell weekly as well if I have a lot of stool. She has on more than one occasion told me to call my doctor. All of the doctors at Mass General Brighams understand where I’m at and respect it but say stay connected and I do. I just want more time to keep trying.
Thanks, Joanne
