Out our back window, the trees that line the creek running less than 100 yards from the house, are showing off. The many shades of green based on the tree type [lots of timber trees, plus maple] and a brilliant orangey-yellow foliage in the middle of it all. To our south side, in the empty lot, the madrone trees are starting to lose their leaves, showing both a silver madrone wood, and the more common red based trunk. As the trees on our property drop their leaves, we are mulching them up for the neighbor across the street, who will envelop her beautiful plants under them for the winter. My yellow rose bush is gasping out one last flush, as is the geranium! The deer have discovered the tufts of late season grass that sprouted in the last rain, setting off the motion-detector several times a night. And skunks are making their rounds [as known by the odiferous trail they leave!].
