Forteo vs. Tymlos: Which did you choose?

Posted by suze317 @suze317, Oct 17, 2018

I have to make a decision on Forteo vs. Tymlos and am not sure what to choose. Forteo has been around a lot longer, but has to be refrigerated. Tymlos only around 1 1/2 years but is shelf stable and seems to have less side effects and less issues with calcium. Can anyone offer their perspective? Thank you!

Good Morning thought I would tell you I did it last night. I took the two clicks. You are right no side effects. So I will keep this up for two and then move it up to 3 or 4 clicks. Thanks for the encouragement. Hope you got to 7 clicks are all right. Stay well and keep me informed. KLH

Oh good for you! Stick with two for a week maybe then go to three. I have a head cold and went to 3 today, will go back to 4 tomorrow. I didn't feel side effects until 4 clicks and they were mild this time. Good luck!

Sorry about the cold but the pollen from weeds is awful here. The other half has been bush-hogging and stirring up a lot of dust and no rain to keep it out of the air. OK, I will try that and see how it goes. Get some rest if you can and feel better.KLH

Yes could be allergies. Hoping this works out for you!

Second night of two clicks. I did have a slight reaction with chest pressure and a headache. Maybe lasted 30 minutes so will still try again tonight. Hope you are better.

It will get better. Maybe do two until the headache goes away.

You won't feel two clicks. No side effects for me until 4 clicks. I am sticking with 4 until the headache goes away. If the headache remains, I won't go up any further.

@windyshores Unless the headaches are really bad try to endure them for a while. I always did the full amount and the side effects I had did just go away. Granted, they were mild side effects so it was not too difficult for me to endure them but if your doctor doesn't think there is reason to be worried about the side effects then maybe if you can forge forward things will smooth out.

If headaches are the biggest problem, would ibuprofen help? My husband uses that for headaches and gets very quick relief.

I am doing well with 4 at this point. I have done 4 for 5 days. If I cannot do more I will stick with 4 until my MD appointment next month, but next week I will try 5 clicks. Hope two went better for you. I never thought I would get this far. This second time around, I believe taking it in the morning is the difference, because I only have afib at night.

Thanks. I am not the one with the headaches! That is @kilh. I had afib and ended up in ICU the first time I did 4 clicks twice in a row. Second time around I started with two clicks and take longer to move up. I have now been on 4 for 5 days. I am taking it in the morning this time, because I only get afib at night. So far so good. There is NO way I could start with a full dose. I tried once and glands swelled up, sore throat etc. Immunologist suggest slow ramping up. Everyone is different.

Keep up the good work and my good thoughts are with you to go to 5 clicks. Tonight will the 4th night and so far last night nothing. Maybe that will last, I can always hope. Is your cold getting better so that you feel better? I will try for two weeks then report to my PA and if he will let me increase the number of clicks. I guess I am going to bug him about my scores since I have had no reply. We just got home from my other half having an angiogram been there most of the day and the news is not good. A lot to take in for the day. And as my daughter says, talk later and stay healthy. KLH

I have read a lot on this site about injections in the stomach. Is anyone injecting in the thigh? Is it just as effective?
